It has happened to me too. I think it was something with resolution , my desktop res was 1400x1050 and I was running the sim either native res of the desktop or it was lower I just cannot recollect. Side note : I just gained around 5 fps by setting Anti-aliasing mode to Adaptive Multi-sample AA, Poolsize is 0

Yeah I know what you mean. I think the bufferpools setting in your FSX.cfg is causing this. Could be that you're out of VRAM, so the GPU has basically flushed the desktop out of it's system, meaning all your VRAM is going into FSX (hence the better performance) but the desktop is black and needs to be "recolored". Try minimizing FSX after a flight (when the screen is black) then hitting F5 to refresh the desktop. Does that clear it?

I think it is at the same reso as the desktop which is native.

will try these suggestions tomorrow, they seem promising. It doesn't sound like a OC error does it?

Yes looks like a VRAM issue. Not it's not an OC error.

I wouldn't think so. But if what I suggested doesn't work, try resetting the GPU clocks

Ok, here we go. This is what I see when I exit the sim:I used my expert paint skills to colour in the where the start menu popped up cos I needed the snipping tool.I have removed the bufferpools entry fully from the .cfg.

Okay I know this is going to sound crap and a pain but dial all clocks back to default. GPU, CPU & ram clocks. See if it disappears (obviously remember the settings in case this doesn't fix it)Try the GPU first, test if it's that, then the CPU

OC is not the problem, still happens. I will try a .cfg rebuild and see what happens.

I told you its not an OC problem. what Di said earlier that it is exhausting your VRAM, do you have HIGHMEMFIX=1 in your fsx.cfg , tell what res are you running fsx on ? It has happened to me too. It is all on the display.

I am trying a drivers update even though they are the latest. When I exit the flight the usage is at max 277mb and goes down to 44mb very quick. I am running a 1280x1024, same in FSX.I do have highmemixfix=1 in the .cfg.doing a clean install of the drivers. I will need to redo the inspector settings but who gives if this works.
