August 25, 201114 yr Hey you should use rudders and check by moving yourself a little bit to the right or left depending where you sitting I do that in my Baron 58. Are you having any crosswinds ? then you would have to do a crab landing.Read the thread thoroughly, and then digest. It has nothing to do with crosswinds.Just how many rudder(s) are there? And if in an autoland Land 3 mode, very much doubt that rudder(s) are in use, unless hand flying the short finals,in which case there would, logically,be no issue lining-up Rwy26,now,would there? August 25, 201114 yr Try the LDA approach into PHNL. Follow the localizer and glide slope, but then at DH you have something like a 50 degree turn to the runway. Fun stuff. August 25, 201114 yr rudder typo.No probs. These keyboards do tend to somehow get in the way of our mental expressions. Hope you'll be purchasing this 'bird' soon and enjoying it yourself rather than having to make do with your friend's as you seem to have a real passion for all things aviation. Good Luck. I actually meant the rudder pedal(s) :) I fly the Baron 58 or the cessna 152 and not the heavies except the default Learjet , but ya I shall be purchasing her soon enough. August 26, 201114 yr Hello, reading this thread it could seem not so often this kind of (offset) approach but I have had a couples of two in last few days. For exaple, yesterday at KTPA I was near the right edge of the runway. Two days ago at KMDW on the left side of the runway and so for many other approaches performed.Well, I usually do a manual landing but in these days I am testing the stunning PMDG 737NGX and need to know how it works, so I do only autolands.Don't remember exactly where (except of KMDW and KTPA) I could not complete the land onto the centerline perfectly but I have to say there were many times. Is it not quite strange? I don't remember one land done right in the center of the runway as well. How about you? Thanks. Bye. Capt. August 26, 201114 yr Offset localisers are common. I don't think it's necessary to wait until decision height to align. As long as you are visual, you can align I believe. I'm sure a real world pilot will correct me if I'm wrong. Martin Wilby

Martin WilbyOk, not just for me, but I think there are some guys here who are not able to perform a full manual landing or correct the heading in last 200-500ft to align, so for them it would be a difficult procedure. Now, for me, where to get the information about the offset degree of the localizer? For the US airports I usually get terminal charts from flightaware.com or airnav.com and I cannot see any kind of information, while the LOWI plate indicated above reports quite clearly the offset.Thanks. August 26, 201114 yr Offset localisers are there usually to avoid high ground, obstacles such as buildings or as in the case of LIMJ part of the port of Genova. The procedure is to line up pretty much when you arrive at the threshold. In practice lining up with the centre line is little difference to kicking off the drift after a cross wind crabbing approach. You don't line up substantially before arrival. Also, read the approach plates carefully as each approach has its own procedure and regulations.vololiberista Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
