This will get you started. Make sure you have a good backup prior to messing around with the fictitious turbo.Ray
Here are the thumbnails for the base models for the Turbo version.

..hummmm, so after modifying the *.cfg file I suppose to see those thumbnails ??????

I made a full copy of the 337 Skymaster folder then renamed it 337 Skymaster TURBO. In the new duplicate aircraft.cfg file I updated just the portion to make the engine a turbo from the post above. Then I added the word TURBO to each 'title' in the file and also added TURBO to the ui_variation for each aircraft. This is all just Copy and Paste. I then saved the file. Tested it to see if all was OK. This is necesssary to avoid duplicates in FSX. Then I replaced each of the thumbnails with the matching thumbnail that I posted with the word Turbo in the jpg. Now I have all models as the regular out of the box version, and all the models as Turbos. I can easily see which is which from the thumbnail and also the variation title ends with TURBO.I didn't change the thumbnail name so each would be matched as the originals, just 'copy and replace'.The plane is just a little faster, flies a little higher, but the increased climb rate is very noticable to me. Otherwise they are all the same. I added a 'turbo' badge on the cowling to a couple of them but that takes a little more effort.Examples:[fltsim.1]title=C337 Skymaster BLUE TURBOui_variation=BLUE TURBO[fltsim.5]title=C337 Skymaster RED TURBOui_variation=RED TURBOEnjoy,Ray

Hey Bob,Thanks for answering. Your right, we are cheating but having 3000ft Vsi in climb is a lot of fun and this is real too. In fact & depending on winds aloft, i achieve a 220 Knts ground speed, fingers in the nose, as for climb & cruise, prop pitch, power settings and fuel flow management IS the key, btw what is your fuel flow indication at FL 190 ?Now we have a faster C337, the yellow arc and the red line- Airspeed indicator- must be "set" to higher speeds, red line at 220/230 Knts ? (have to find a photoshop guy)...Have a lot of fun.Cheers.
I checked turbo 337 on 'You Tube' and noted the max Manifold is 40 inches on the turbo while the Carenado version max is 32 inches. I guess the Photoshop guy will have to make that change also? has anything been accomplished along these lines?What about weights on the 'H' versus the 'G'; are they the same?All-in-all, does everybody agree this aircraft is really 'G' and not a 'H' as promoted? Thanks / Les Parson

Model G vs Model H.Me thinks the noticable difference is limited to the baggage door and that has absolutely no effect on anything other than loading and unloading baggage. Maybe a real world owner will weight in with something concrete, until then I'm not sure what we lose or gain with either model designation.The POH that I have has 1975 on the cover with no mention anyplace that I have found about an Alpha model designation.Ray

Thanks Raymar and all for the info and images, it's like having a new hot rod in the hangar.

hi

i did the mods suggested on this topic but now when i load up my C337 it starts flipping around and crashes. Is anybody else getting this?

I've experimented and narrowed it down to the turbocharged= 0 line. When its turbocharged= 1 i get the crash thing. Any ideas?

thanks lee

Hi Lee.

The turbo mods worked fine for me. Here is what I did, following suggestions from this forum.

[piston_engine]

power_scalar= 1.0 //Piston power scalar

cylinder_displacement= 60 //Cubic inches per cylinder 60

compression_ratio= 8.5 //Compression ratio

number_of_cylinders= 6 //Number of cylinders.

max_rated_rpm= 2800 //Max rated RPM

max_rated_hp= 250.0 //Max rated HP

fuel_metering_type= 0 //0=Fuel Injected, 1=Gravity Carburetor, 2=Aerobatic Carburetor

cooling_type= 0 //0=Cooling type Air, 1=Cooling type Liquid

normalized_starter_torque= 0.3 //Starter torque factor

turbocharged= 1 //Is it turbocharged? 0=FALSE, 1=TRUE

max_design_mp= 37 //Max design manifold pressure, (inHg)

min_design_mp= 4 //Min design manifold pressure, (inHg)

critical_altitude= 20000.0 //Altitude to which the turbocharger will provide max design manifold pressure (feet)

emergency_boost_type= 0

emergency_boost_mp_offset= 0.0

emergency_boost_gain_offset= 0.0

fuel_air_auto_mixture= 0 //Automixture available? 0=FALSE, 1=TRUE

auto_ignition= 0 //Auto-Ignition available? 0=FALSE, 1=TRUE

max_rpm_mechanical_efficiency_scalar= 1 //Scalar on maximum RPM mechanical efficiency

idle_rpm_mechanical_efficiency_scalar= 1 //Scalar on idle RPM mechanical efficiency

max_rpm_friction_scalar= 1 //Scalar on maximum RPM friction

idle_rpm_friction_scalar= 1 //Scalar on idle RPM friction

number_of_magnetos= 2

Check what your aircraft.cfg file has and compare with the above.

The C337H really scoots along with the "Turbo" bolted in :biggrin:
