Radar contact copatible with PMDG NGX?

Featured Replies

Hi all NGX+RC users! I don´t insert sids and stars in RC flightplan but I make sure the last waypoint in my intended sid is the first waypoint in rc (within 30 nm of airport). If I then select the option "No Alititude Restr" I can fly around and following my SID even with alt. restrictions without a mad controller yelling at me. I also include a VOR in the flightplan within 5 nm of dest. airport because then I know ATC will expect me to be at FL 11-12 about 40nm from the VOR. Also the hold scenario if it´s bad wheather can only be triggered if you put a VOR as last waypoint. The first thing I do in the NGX FMC is to delete the last VOR, put in my sid and when I finally get handed over to approach I ask for IAP and I´m free to follow my STAR :) /Patrik Soderberg

? If I run the PMDG NGX without RC the seatbelt and announcement switches play a "ding".When I run RC those "ding" noises do not play.Any tips?Thank you.

You can most certainly run the PMDG NGX with RC4, as I do.Here's what I do:Plan a flight here: http://www.flightsimaviation.com/_flight_planner.htmlEnter the flight plan here: http://www.simroutes.com/fb2/ParseRoute.aspxGenerate route and save the route to my computer. Then open up RC4 and click on FS200X flight plan and load the flight plan I just saved. Then once in FSX enter the same flight plan into the FMC.Works Great! :)Kind Regards,DanI forgot to say, if you want to follow the STAR in your flight plan, request an instrument appraoch from the controler :)

Oh and another small question. If i chose not to add an SID or STAR to the flightplan that i load into RC, will the RC-ATC then give me an SID/STAR to fly?And also, if i have chosen a spesific SID/STAR could the ATC ask me to fly a different one? As far as i know this can happend in RL.
1. no. rc4 isn't really looking at the STARs at all - you are basically just giving it the waypoints like a flightplan so that when you request an IAP you are basically flying the star and it doesn't care.... it doesn't take account of vectors or other procedural stuff either. it's sort of a hack to enter the waypoints as is, but it works ok. where it sorta breaks down is that you'll still get cleared to 11,000 at 40nm regardless of the limits in the star.2. same..it doesn't really know about other sids/stars at all. but you're right, in real life you could get assigned a different one than expected in some cases.if you're really interested in having the ATC pay attention to sid/stars, maybe check out the voxatc demo it handles them pretty well, using the same navigraph data as the fmc so it usually makes smart decisions. if your flightplan starts and ends on a transition it will assign the appropriate star based on which runway and all that stuff. it's much less polished than rc4 in most other aspects though..cheers-andy crosby

VATSIM / IVAO will deal with SIDs and STARs just like how they do it in real life :) And many other things, like oceanic procedures, special vfr, local ifr etc. Plus its free :)

Doesn't always have ATC coverage though.RC4 is 24/7 no matter where you fly.

I did an RC4 flight the other night, which went fine except for the fact I could hear the default ATC in the background of some channels and traffic backed up at my departing airport.I'll have to read the RC4 instructions again.
in your fsx settings you can turn off the atc sound to zero and than you wont hear the normal atc chatter but only rc4

im currently using PFE but its a pain to set up new flightplans, also you need to print off all the commands and freqences for the flight as they do not show on the screen like RC4. Having said that the actual radio sounds (especialy with the sound pack) are the best ive heard.Sometimes I use RC4 when I dont want to fuss about with the 20 steps required to make a new PFE flightplan heh.
