FSX/P3D SCENERIES: compatibility questions and issues

Featured Replies

Hi Rendi, thanks

Looking at the list from Word Not Allowed it appears pmdg does not allow the usage in p3d, but it does work using the estonia tool i linked above as you wrote rendi - so how does this work with pmdg not allowing it yet it is adaptable? i very rarely fly vor-vor, - im assuming to date this is the only issue with the md-11?(which is what i fly) and is there other issues with other pmdg products?

Regards

Paul

I plead the 4rth. :) Trust me, the subject has been beat to death in these forums. You have enough information to formulate your own conclusions. Your welcome Paul.

Thanks Rendi,

Having not been interested in p3d prior to now, i haven't had the need to browse these forums so didnt know it was an "issue".

So what is pmdg's problem?

I do understand havin to buy it again in the sense that fs9.1 - fsx you have to buy it again, and i guess its no different going from fsx - p3d, but if its not available to buy for p3d, what is one to do?

Do the following programs Actually improve P3D? I think that the stock 1.4 scenery by itself is better than what I had in FSX with UTX,GEX,FS Global 2010, SceneryTech. What are your thoughts?

You know, after going through the trouble of porting UTX into P3D, I undid everything, because I also think that the improvement over the stock 1.4 scenery wasn't that much.

I just wanted to update my thinking since the new product ORBX World is due for release in 2013. I suggest trying the ORBX demo scenery for the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State, as it is beautiful with P3D, as are other payware ORBX packs.

The performance hit for me was from 35 to 25 FPS with ORBX installed.

I have both Ultimate terrain and FSceneand REX Ultimate in P3D and they work without problems.I paid for them (twice for FScene since I could not find my original installer). I don't want to repeat the thousand-times-discussed EULA question, but can someone knowledgeable point me to a court decision that established that one could not use in his private home in any way he wants on his private computer software that he has purchased, no matter limitations described in the EULA? For example, if a EULA specified that a program could be used only with Microsoft Explorer, would a buyer of that program be legally obliged not to use it with Firefox? I understand that the company SELLING the software may be obliged legally to state limitations in the EULA because data in the software coming from another source may have limitations on how it could be used commercially. But does this really put any legally binding obligation on the private buyer of the software who is going to use it privately? I have hundreds of computer games and NEVER pirate any software, despite having friends who pirate everything in sight, but I have problems with software producers who want to tell me what I can do with software I pay for, and until I can be convinced of the contrary, I interpret such attempts as the producers HAVING to attempt limiting the use of their software to avoid violating their own commercial contracts or lawyer advice. But I see that as THEIR problem and not mine, until someone can point me to a court decision that clearly establishes that I am wrong.

Henri - Sometimes it just comes down to an individual making their OWN decision and living with it. Sort of like the "don't ask - don't tell" policy. We are not lawyers and anyone other than an attorney sepcializing in that type of law who gives you an answer is just blowing smoke and voicing an opinion.

You want to use product X with P3d? Develolper says no? You make the call - problem develops when you tell others.
