March 5, 201214 yr xflash: I followed your instructions, but kept receiving the message that some of the files do not exist, "please find the correct ones"All the files do exist, except I do not have an FSX.cfg within my AppdataRoamingP3D . Should I do so. I certainly have the FSX msi copied into my P3D folder.I also seem to have had some but not complete success with the TweakFS reg utility.. KInd regards, Ian McPhail
March 5, 201214 yr xflash: after reading the instructions carefully, I have got the symbolic folder links created. But I cannot make the symbolic file link work, even though the directories are valid. I would be grateful for your guidance on this. KInd regards, Ian McPhail
March 7, 201214 yr I have made a screenshot with comments.. i hope it helps ou to create the link: Sebastian S.
March 9, 201214 yr Thanks for that, I really appreciate your trouble. I shall let you know how it goes. But I can tell you, I did not have the GUI looking like the above. Sot thanks. KInd regards, Ian McPhail
April 8, 201214 yr Commercial Member ... However if anyone has got a work around for the FSUIPC crash on exit I would love to know. ... I believe that there is a beta version that corrects that problem. All FSX add-ons that create a menu item can crash the program on exit. Ironically, the problem arose when LM fixed a bug in simconnect. IIRC, LM has warned that all add-ons that do not use simconnect but get the information directly from the sim (FSX or P3D) have a high probability of crashing.
May 22, 201214 yr Moderator Can anyone outline the steps to getting UTX to work with P3D under XP64? Using the regutility I was able to get it to install but the config tool balks at scenery cfg errors. What entries are needed in the scenery cfg and terrain.cfg and SHALL I ASSUME that, like FSX they are the ones in the userdata folders and not the P3D folder? GEX and AS2012 are working fine. Add on a/c seem to be ok too. So for now, it's UTX and FSGenesis that I am concerned with. Thanx, Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
May 22, 201214 yr You can get a program like SCM2004 (free at avsim) and use it to copy all the entries for UTX in the fsx scenery cfg, then cut and paste them into P3D scenery.cfg. You have to find your FSX scenery.cfg, put a copy of fs9.exe or anything named fs9.exe in the folder, then steer SCM2004 to the folder. It will read it, you can see all the UTX entries, then select and export them with SCM2004 to a *.SAS file on your desktop. Then steer SCM back to your P3D scenery.cfg. Close and re-open SCM and it will read your P3D scenery.cfg, then just import the entries and put them at the right level. As for the terrain config, I don't know of a terrain.cfg editor
May 22, 201214 yr Moderator OK, thanx! Will give it a go. RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
May 22, 201214 yr I had it up and running, but there was a problem with all the water being shown as land(which I suspect is a terrain.cfg issue), so I just de-activated one of the scenery folders, maybe for coastline and the problem resolved.
September 24, 201213 yr Do the following programs Actually improve P3D? I think that the stock 1.4 scenery by itself is better than what I had in FSX with UTX,GEX,FS Global 2010, SceneryTech. What are your thoughts?
October 8, 201213 yr Hey, Just curious about this, and thought this was the best forum to post in, Ok so ive heard p3d is the way to go, but why? Is it that p3d is written better and can make use of more than 4g of ram? or can utilise quad cores better? Ive also seen a payware addon one can buy that can convert - ie pmdg, utx etc from fsx to p3d, is this easy enough to do? (if anyone has a link that would be appreciated - i dont mean the fsx reg utility tool either) I am now thinking about getting p3d If its going to be worthwhile. I dont mean this to be a "versus" thread. Regards Paul Paul Westcott
October 8, 201213 yr Two months ago I uninstalled FSX after a trying P3D for a few weeks. Haven't looked back since. P3D is a much stabler simulation platform, and with developers converting / supporting their products on this platform, I believe P3D is the future of flight simming. Conversion and / or installing FSX addons is no problem at all with the right program. Just beware of some addons that still won't work with P3D (yet) (Aerosoft AES, FS Supertrafficboard etc.) There is an excellent list somewhere on these boards showing what addons are supported, and if you are allowed to due to EULA constraints (But I'd say skip that bit..... ) BR Bob
October 8, 201213 yr Hi Bob, Thanks Do you have any idea what payware im meaning? ive hunted through my history and cant find it, im sure it was on fs store or something and was about 15 euros. I see on that list that pmdg is not "noted" does anyone have any info on this? I am assuming the 50 euro version is the version everyone goes for? Regards Paul EDIT: http://secure.simmarket.com/fsx-to-prepare3d-migration-tool.phtml This the payware i was meaning. Paul Westcott
