Another Microsoft Flight forum closure

Recommended Posts

We closed the Flight forum because we are sick and tired of the speculation, rants and nonsense associated with Flight (Alain being a prime example). Here's another reason. We are a business which makes money from selling addons for open platforms such as FSX. Until Flight becomes a known entity and there is an SDK published, we would be fools to commit any resources to it. I think every other developer in the FSX world feels exactly the same way. Of course, we remain enthused about what we see from their screenshots and videos of Hawaii. We have been talking openly to Lockheed Martin for eighteen months and we embrace their open, community facing communication and transparency, and their ongong development of the engine and SDK. So for us it is a no-brainer to embrace P3D as another platform to allow us to achieve incremental revenues from the commercial and academic markets. We will be announcing cross-grade licensing very soon. My advice is to simply enjoy viewing the Flight screenshots and videos which MS release at their own pace, without reading between every single line of every press release. Flight will be what it will be. It really does look superb and I am sure it will be a lovely flight experience for everyone when it is finally released. Now please, don't *speculate* on my words I've just posted. There are no conspiracy theories and I said it in black and white: until we can make money from Flight we're focusng on platforms where we can. Simple as that :)

Even though there are many complaints about the speculation on The Microsoft Flight Forum, people like John Nicol and John Venema still read and post here. I wonder if it is somehow related to the morbid fascination people have with aircraft, car and train crashes? Not that I'm saying that the forum here is a train wreck of course.

Post #85 first sentence was 10 days ago http://forum.avsim.n...od/page__st__75 , like I said Orbx is a good company with good addons and nothing but good members. It's not just about speculation, I mean seriously Orbx is now pushing Prepar3D for good reason and Aerosoft is pushing Xplane-10 and both had a Flight forums for over a full year with nothing in it but speculations, why now.....as I said in another post if MS show us some FPS with sliders maxed out over New York we will have something else to talk about right??

Say what you please Alain, I won't believe you until the 3P devs say it. After all, without proof, it's all speculation right? Shocked.gif

I plan on de-fsxing over time and switching over to P3D. Kind regards,
Think we are both singing from the same hymn sheet there, Stephen.

Arnie....if it ain't broke, don't fix it...

Alain, I'm not sure why this seems to be so important for you. After all, Flight or no Flight, we are talking about computer programs here. Whatever happens, I'm quite sure it won't set the world on fire. For as far as I can see, many people already know what you have to say, yet you keep insisting and repeating yourself. Why? Fact is we hardly know anything. Speculation is fun, but up to a point only. Afterwards, it just gets tiring. And, with all due respect, many people here seem a bit tired...

I know I am tired.
To be fair, you do post in this forum a lot. That must be exhausting.

No, just reading the same stuff over and over and over and over again IS tiring. Thanks for keeping track of my posts though.

Given what is known it's safe to conclude there is no conclusion.
Do you have conclusive evidence to back up this statement?

There is no conclusion so there is no conclusive evidence that will lead to any conclusion.

Aerosoft had no such Flight forum. What Mathijs hid was a 2 page thread started by me on the 19th of September 2011.
