What settings are incorrect that you refer to my machine is running fsx great, but turn it off no way so please let me know what I am doing wrong ? thanks.
Your FSX is running great because of 4.2 OC. I did the same and it runs great now. I wish I could do 5.0 and that would be a dream.

Tom, glad you are getting better results. Not sure if you still want the settings i use for my i7920 DO, for reference, if you do, send me a PM. smile.png
Martin, here are my settings. I reckon there's been some beginners luck involved here but my system seems stable and getting max temps below 70 in FSX (low traffic). HT on and AF=252. Found a useful guide here....http://lifehacker.com/5580998/a-beginners-guide-to-overclocking-your-intel-processor I haven't run the long duration Prime95 test as suggested in this guide. Not too sure about the QPI Clock Ratio and why I see two values for the Memory Frequency but this is a first attempt. I bet it does run great. It is a good computer for FSX.There is no situation in this world where FSX is going to run better with HT-on.The problem is with your affinity mask setting not being applied correctly and I bet it's to be found in the fsx.cfg.
FSX will take advantage of HT but only if FSX is stored on a SSD as it speeds up data access on the SSD itself.

Speeding up data doesn't increase FPS or help with stutters.

OMG, where do you get your info from? Stop spreading misinformation.

FPS no, stutters maybe, depends on why they occur

FSX is not HDD limited. SSD only helps with loadtimes. And it might veeeery slightly help with stutters in flight. But that only if you really have miserable HDD solution otherwise. For instance, 10k drive, WD Raptor, vs SSD - no difference in flight, none what-so-ever.

I got an SSD, I didn't spread any misinformation nor did I state FSX runs better with HT on.

Why didn't you quote my whole point? I don't see the need to argue about what I wrote,I just offered an advantage of HT.

Because you clearly wrote FSX takes adventage of HT, while it does not, not in the smallest part. But please, maybe I misunderstood it. Take your time to explain in detail, supporting your testament with facts and proofs - either yourself or internet source.

My point is, enabling HT will lower loading times within FSX if it's stored on an SSD.Not because FSX uses HT in any positive way but Windows7 does.So it does not run "better" but it loads faster :)

And by how much?I ask because as I owned an SSD for testing purposes, I couldn't find any evidence of FSX using HT cores for anything.

I used to switch between HT on and off back when I had an 875K. I would say with HT on it loads the PMDG 747X Navdata in about half the time, loading times before a flight are much shorter in general. I remember this very clearly because it bothered me really bad and it's the only reason I still have HT on.
