Hyperthreading - Yes it DOES help!

Folks, most of this is over my head but I see that have AffinityMask=224 after using Bojote. I would like to experiment with over clocking and realise I will need a new CPU fan but that's about all I know. Any advise would be welcome.

Ignore my last post, I think i see what you're doing. 252 turns off both physical core 0 and virtual core 0. 254 would turn off the physical core but leave the virtual available for fsx.Hope I got it right this time...

224 is definitely wrong, whatever the configuration. It should be 84 or 14, depending on HT.

Yes, that's correct. Running 254 doesn't make any sense though.

Hi Word Not Allowed Dont know why but that website configure my FSX.CFG as below and I have Hyperthreading on, it gave me an affinity mask of 14 This file is optimized as follows: 8 core(s), CPU speed 4, HT 1, GPU 4, PREF 2

The other point of course, is that with HT off you can overclock higher. HT off results in 10 degrees less CPU temp. In which case, even if HT was slightly beneficial, [it isn't] you would still be better off with it disabled, and with the capability to overclock higher.

Word Not Allowed, thanks for that but actually I have a bigger problem. I can't run my system stable at 21X @ 2.8GHz (BIOS Optimised Defaults) - crash re-start before or soon after windows load. It is stable at 15X @ 2.00GHz (Fail Safe Defaults). I've been having this problem (intermittently) since I built the box over a year ago and have recently upgraded RAM. I sent a problem ticket to Gigabyte today so hopefully they will have an answer for me. It wouldn't be a problem if the NGX wasn't so awesome so I really need to get my system sorted to fully appreciate what the folks at PMDG have done with this simulation!

I was wondering where I can find "How many 'CPUs/Threads' show in task manager?" to enter in the Bojote's Tweak.I just can't figure out witch number is the right one in the task manager.I have an I7-920 running at 4Ghz without Hyper Treading.

Affinity mask has been set to 14.I don't entirely know what you mean with "bogus" mr. Word Not Allowed, could you explain please?Btw, what's the best affinitymask setting for HT off? And also, why do you have an i7 2600k when you say HT is useless?
Disable HT in the BIOS. Bert Van Bulck

If you are running that, then you have 4 threads, and your correct affinity mask is 14.

Can't help you there, I don't know Gigabyte all that well. But that CPU should be rocking 4Ghz without any trouble. You should be able to run 4.2 with 21x multi and 200Mhz BCLK. At least, that's what I was able to do with my 920.

Download and run the appropriate version of hwinfo (http://www.hwinfo.com/). Very handy little tool which should help.

My 920 hates a 21 multiplier but loves a 19 multiplier. 4GHz is easy. I can send you my settings if you like, for reference? Mine is the Asus P6T, but do you have the latest BIOS for your MB and are your temps okay? Which cooler?

Also having this problem on my MSI P55-GD85. When I load optimized defaults, it's running at 2.8 GHz. But after a while my PC just shuts it self off. When when I use my overclock profile though, everything is perfectly fine. Try these settings for your default clockspeed:133x21All power savers offTurbo boost offMemory ratio: 4QPI ratio: 16Low VDroop (important to achieve stable overclock)CPU VCore: 1.23VLeave the rest at autoSpread Spectrum : OFF Having spread spectrum off is really important because it makes your CPU send each pulse at variable times, sometimes 2 pulses are sent at the same time and your system looses control. So put that one off.If you want to overclock to 3.8 GHz I should use the same settings but change this:190x20Low VDroopCPU VCore: 1.4VCPU VIT: 1.3VMemory: 1.65

1.4 is a high CPU voltage. Mines at 1.24 volts. At 4GHz. Above 1,4 isn't usually advsied on air.

Depends on what CPU you have? Which one do you have? I need 1.4V to achieve stable overclock, got all these settings from YouTube and they work perfectly.
