737NGX Custom reflection/dynamic shine W.I.P

I've been toying with making a custom shine model for the NGX. I personally found the included environment map a bit strange (or at least, the effect it caused). So I've made an entirely new environment map and Fresnel ramp. The new environment map should eliminate the white/misaligned 'corners' that inevitably form on many envmaps that use the box method. I've also looked into the nosecone area, since the shine on nosecones when viewed from the front never look particularly good, because the environment map is basically being projected onto a half sphere causing any impurities or details to become extremely visible. The only way I can think to fix this without touching the Fresnel and ruining the shine of the rest of the aircraft would be to slowly darken the specular alpha towards the nosecone. Of course it wouldn't need much and could potentially make it look worse, but it's certainly something I'll be looking into. Anyway, less 'blah' more pictures - the following shots have not been edited apart from cropping and resizing, obviously it's still heavily work in progress.ngxshine1.jpgngxshine2.jpgngxshine3.jpgI used the default Ryanair livery from PMDG, so no modifications to the diffuse textures at all. I'll also be attempting a bare metal scheme soon, using a base grey on the diffuse, and specular/bump/Fresnel/environment maps to give a completely dynamic shine/chromatic look. This means as you pan around the aircraft or bank/pitch, the reflection will appear to change and warp correctly, rather than a few static shine-lines.Let me know what you think anyhow.

This looks Faaaaaaaaaaantastic! All I can say is WOW!The second screenshot looks very real. I especially like the where the fuselage curves at the bottom. You've got the shine down pat.

Now this looks real. Will it be available for us aswell.. Very impressive, The actual Ryanair one does reflect like that )

Yeah well im abit gutted at the moment, so keep up this good work on the Ryanair livery m8. I have just spoke to a lead designer on Mcphats forum asking about the new world airline packages and they have clearly stated that there will be no Ryanair as of yet maybe in the later one'sOh well

Fantastic job. I never knew that shine was so important to making the aircraft look so three dimensional.

impressive work!
