December 9, 201114 yr When you have a popular aircraft like the NGX which comes in various flavours, there will be a lot of repaint requests, only natural, and based on airlines from all over the world, that's a lot.To be quite honest, to get a request is acknowledgement that people like your work, and if they don't, you would not do it I could not even paint a letter box, nor the patience to sit in front of my screen painting a fuselage. I suppose I am not creative, and I do not have to be.This is part of flightsimming culture, let's not lose that. December 9, 201114 yr @ZK-SUH Have you ever tried painting a fuselage? Vladimir Levkov / Владимир Левков Two miles of road can take you two miles. Two miles of runway can take you anywhere in the world
December 9, 201114 yr A hint here or there is OK, but it is getting out of hand here at PMDG, I feel.btw. if anybody does not feel like buying Photoshop, there are free alternatives, for all, Gimp should be mentioned. --Peter Fabian
December 9, 201114 yr I, for one, don't mind getting requests. However, I always state I will make liveries I like, in a timeframe that suits me.If I were to paint liveries and do nothing else, I'd go crazy. There's a lot of work involved in every livery, from getting reference material over finding the correct colors, to finding logos... (and the hardest part of it all, for me.... making sure everything is aligned.) Name available upon request
December 9, 201114 yr I think there's always going to be a fine line with liveries and requests. I think the more people that learn to paint the more will realize two things.1- How much effort and time goes into each.2- How much fun it is.I also don't mind requests, although I rarely will take on a request anymore personally. Most people have gained at least an understanding for #1, but some requesters do not. So it can be annoying when someone keeps reposting things like "are you serious? No one?". All non-painters should view all painters like Thomas said, in a time frame that suits them. I most often see it as Julian stated about a request being acknowledgment that people like your work, but also can see it how Vladimir said it. I guess some people just ruin it for others. I have replied to every single request I ever got. That in itself can be very time consuming. I am always very considerate, yet not all requesters are. In fact most that I say "Sorry, I don't have the time" get angry with you for saying no. Out of thousands of requests over the years, I can honestly say that only a small handful of people have replied courteously to my respectful rejection. Some paints (most 1st's that are ever done with any kit) can take a painter well over 100hrs. I actually started my forum for painters, in order to give them a sub-forum of their own to design as they want. Painters like Mark Alderidge, Jim Hobs, and many others here that don't just share the paints they paint, but take on so many projects for others. It's something that is very selfless of a person and something more and more people are starting to see and respect. So I like to read requests since it gives me an idea what people want, but non-painters just need to understand their request might not fit into a painters schedule for a long time.On another note, the tutorial I'm doing will show people how starting with the 900 (yes, I know the wrapper is broken) that all other paints can then be banged out for every other model in less than an hour. That means no need to make someone wait for their 600 if you do an 8. Most of the textures are actually identical and you could actually just paint the 900 and create a new texture.cfg and have only a very small set of files for all others. That though would mean people would have to have the original, but my point is that once the bigger is done, and if it took 100+ hrs, all others below it can be done in minutes. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier

December 9, 201114 yr "especially the tail/underside section" would like to see this where can it be found Rich Sennett
December 9, 201114 yr He's talking about 2 different sections. Look at your paint, you painted these areas i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
December 9, 201114 yr I thought he was talking about a video you did on the tail section I can not get into your forum even after an e-mail was sent with a new password Dan ? Rich Sennett
December 10, 201114 yr I don't see anything, just someone that used an email address of [email protected] have 337 inactive members, meaning these people signed up but never activated so it would be a lot easier if you gave me the user name you used. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
December 10, 201114 yr I wasn't talking about his video,i was talking about the extremely difficult job of aligning stuff on the rear of the fuselage, aligning things that wrap around the fuselage like on this livery (yes,I am aware this is a 727,and yes,I am aware that aviogenex doesn't have NGs,but it is still my favourite airline) Vladimir Levkov / Владимир Левков Two miles of road can take you two miles. Two miles of runway can take you anywhere in the world
