Microsoft FLIGHT Suggestions

Featured Replies

2 things I would like to see from Microsoft Flight, first and foremost the design team needs to take chapter from the developers of Flight Unlimited 95 and the flight dynamics of that sim. It was way ahead of its time and that sim responded more like real aircraft. Second, I wish they would bring back the crop dusting feature that MSFS4 had. That was a lot of fun and would look great with the new graphics. I think it may have been in MSFS5 as well but I don't think it went beyond that.

Crop dusting would make a great little set of missions. Another similar idea would be to have firefighting, with aircraft such as the CL-215 and helis.

Firefighting sounds like a great idea! Here's a few more:- Skydiver missions with animated skydivers (or smokejumpers) jumping out of the plane.- UN refugee evacuation in the middle of Congo with animated people on the ground- Tactical treetop flying transport missions in military aircraft.- Coast Guard missions tracing illegeal fishing vessels.- Historic air races in vintage aircraft.- Chase cars and runaways in police helicopters.- Fly medievac missions in rescue helicopters (Pick up wounded people at a crash site, rescue bigwall climbers in trouble in steep mountain sides).- Interceptor missions with fighter jets.- Look for submarines with sono equipped helicpoter from carrier or maritime patrol aircraft.Realistic career modes/campaigns:- Student pilot- Bush pilot- Cargo pilot- Commuter pilot- Airliner pilot

Honestly Horatio, I'm all for fun and humor but why say "Oh Gawd Not another suggestion post" only to post this running joke about tea.I love all those ideas Simmerhead, a couple like the medivac are done in FSX and aren't that great, not the concept just the execution is a little poor. The missions where you need to lift cargo onto the back of trucks and boats in FSX is a prime example; The behavior of the cargo is so frustrating, at times for no reason at all it would shoot up above the heli in mid flight and swing uncontrollably, the difficulty of that mission for me came from the awful physics engine rather than task itself. There is nothing more frustrating in a game when the world you are in acts in such an unintuitive way, the brain does adapt to the poor coding but it makes it virtually impossible to develop and learn skills when basic laws like gravity have a mind of their own. Hopefully we can look forward to something a little more polished in the Flight missions.

Yep, execution is important! Most of the FSX missions were poorly produced and executed. In Flight I hope they'll separate better between "realisitc" missions and the "pure fun" ones. In Flight Simulator you've mostly had to create your own fun, and I guess that's why so many people grow tired of them fast unless they're die hard aviation fans.

Can we make this a 'Tea Free Zone' ? If you haven't noticed, Horatio has lost his 'Shimmering' Pharoh's Head; so like Samson, losing his hair, I am sure that Mr Wondersocks has lost his 'powers' of persuasion, So his hold over us waffling about tea all the time has diminshed. No to Tea !!!! Down with Tea !!!!

I really do hope they update the airports, airways, nav and ATC centre database world wide to a more recent time like maybe 2011. So that in free flight mode we could use jepp/navigraph charts. And global warming hasn't kicked in yet, how FSX World was covered in desert is still a mystery to me i hope they fix those and enhance ATC some more.

You do realize the irony of a person with a COFFEE avatar not liking all this talk about TEA don't you?

A really good, yet simple navigator module with an autopilot "fly to" capability. It does not have to have all the bells and whistles of a FS Navigator or Commander, but the things to allow one to make simple flights to and from a location and know where they are while they are doing it. Even overlaying this simple module on the "top down" view of the earth would be great.I think this is the number one thing to do to broaden the base of novice users, while satisfying the needs of many of the more complex users as well. Even though I know the sim pretty well, I never fly without a third party navigator program running on the second monitor. And I love it for setting up to ILS approaches. What they have provided in the past is simplified to the point of being essentially worthless in my opinion. Bob - Las Cruce, NM.
