How do I re download PMDG aircraft?

How do I re download PMDG aircraft if my links have expired?

You would have to buy their extended download service. Fortunately, devs with that extra money policy became rare these days as we're talking about generic installers, not special per-user ones, as the MD5 hash shows. The recommendation will always be, avoid such services and backup your installers when you get them.In your current situation, where you want to access something you've already paid for, you may not have all those options though. sad.pngIf you've already bought the extended download service, I think you have to drop them a ticket to get new links.

Does anyone know how to re-download the NGX Base product. I purchased the extended download feature early last week for NGX base package and can't find a link that is not expired. Thanks.Bob Price .. :)

The links from your purchase are available when you log in to the shop, not the support system, and then look at your previous orders.

Yeah if you want to save on the cost, I suggest you burn onto cd the installer as you only get 5 days, or so to download.

With PMDG when you buy an extended download, you need to submit a support ticket, to get the link when you want them. They don't automatically appear in your profile, as you would suspect.

Thanks

Paying extra for extended access to something you already own? huh.pngClassy...Just find someone selling the Box/CD-Version and buy that... then you don't have to worry about such BS as this. mad.gif

Yep, and their bandwidth is free also, right?

Well, Jim, I hope the 70 Dollars on the basepack alone justify a download of 600mb, even twice if needed. At least, one can download the stuff as long as the links are working, so bandwidth alone may not be the factor here.Strange thing, at some other devs, we can download our purchases endless times. Do they have other bandwidth costs or maybe just other, customer friendly, policies? sleep.png Open question. But, freedom of choice. The guys looking for some extra 5 Dollars for 'bandwidth' may purchase that stuff, every year if they like. Sort of donating in my eyes.

Backups are always free.

More like paying extra for being lazy? Taking a blank DVD and making a backup disk takes 5 minutes? Costs what, $.10?If it's of value to a purchaser, they should take the responsibility of backing it up. It probably takes less time finding the DVD and copying the file to a HD and reinstalling then having to re-download the thing. For those that don't want the hassle, think of the extended download charge as some sort of extended warranty, like they want to sell you at all the retail stores.

Choices are too. happy.png Sometimes they even safe you money though. At least in that aspect. But you are right, a backup is recommended, not only at PMDG.

Backups always safe you money. They also save you money.

I don't have a strong opinion pro or con about PMDG's way of doing things, but I would say it does seem a little bit anachronistic.. Probably 90% of the software I've bought online over the last few years is easily re-downloadable. Steam, Direct2Drive, Sony Media Software, and many smaller places do this nowadays, I'm not sure I really get the piracy angle since in order to access the downloads still requires my account info which is also linked with other private information, which strongly discourages folks from wanting to post the link for others to use. When they go to authorize it should take care of that anyway. But who knows, maybe the margins are really different between Steam and a niche software place where bandwidhth matters or something...Yeah, backups are cheap...For FSX I usually keep all my intallers... but on a hard drive...Of course, burning 163Gb of DVD's is not something I have the patience for.. And it still seems a little silly at some level that I have to keep a backup when the company already has a nice handy server for that, probably with 100x better redunancy than i'm using, just as part of their normal operations.Anyway not a big deal either waycheers-andy crosby

Fully agreed, Andy. For example, buying at Flight1, Aerosoft, Orbx and some more not only gives me way larger downloads on e. g. scenery products, I also get them when I need them.I still do a backup (and use it) and it's not that I abuse their fair policy with downloading the same gigabytes every day. So, as said, more of a policy thing than anywhere related to actual bandwidth in my eyes.If a guy needs the purchased installer after some 4 months, he may access his account and load it. Just like you've described it. It's a generic file and the sales server holds it either way.
