Personally, I would be delighted if Flight did not force me to change from XP to win7!tongue.png

I agree Alain, it would be nice if MS would show us a video that didn't look like FSX. :)However, I do stand by my opinion that seeing cockpit shadows in the newest Maule screenshot, which was only a feature in the DirectX 10 Preview in FSX, shows solid proof of some DX10 implementation.
You may be right but keep in mind that they can do the same with DX9, we will have to wait and see.

You will not have to change your OS unless MS decide to use DX10 or 11 only and since they said (in Flight spec.) that XP is A-Ok to be use with Flight you are good to go.

If they use the DX9 API, they won't leave out the good old tried and true 8000 series GPUs like my 8800GTs or my SLI 9800GTXs which are barely DX10 capable. Since DirectX is a Microsoft tech, I wouldn't doubt it will be DX11 compatible. But to make it only DX11 would force ppl to upgrade and, as the november update clearly points out, they're trying to make it so ppl can use existing older hardware and still have a working system. As they've tested the system on a Windows XP machine, it is not capable of anything after DX9, so to support the legacy system (which their own tech support gave up years ago, but lots of people are still running it) they're keeping it alive and not forcing people to upgrade to Vista/7 just to run Flight. GREAT move by them. Those still using WinXP can't complain if the new sim will run on it and not force them to upgrade to a newer supported operating system. They may have learned something from the DX10 Vista/7 only debacle. If you wanted to run the high-end games in all their DX10 glory, you had to upgrade. Made a lot of people mad as they hated Vista. Good foresight here trying to eliminate angry customers forced to update just to run a $50-$100 game by buying $800 of new hardware (CPU/Mobo/Vid Card/PSU).

Actually it's less and less every month.
So? Latest figures suggest the average breakdown between Microsoft operating systems is XP 42%, Vista 15%, and Win7 43%.Because most people people only upgrade their operating system when they buy a new PC. XP will be around in significant numbers for a while. Microsoft isn't going to rule out such of large section of its potential market.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usage_share_of_operating_systems#Estimates_for_2011

You are right Phil but what I was trying to get at is that I don't see anything in Flight where I can say "Hey! this has to be in DX10 or DX11" what I see so far is DX9, not that DX9 can't be enjoyable but since MS is using the same engine and are focusing on perf. if DX10 or 11 is to make it to Flight it will have to be in a future patch unless future pics or vid. release from MS clearely show something different from what they showed us so far.
Stop talking out of your backside. You have as much evidence that Flight is using FSX's engine that I do that there are pixies living at the bottom of my garden.Having read some of your posts on other forums (where your evidence for use of the same engine is oversized houses and a back wheel which sinks into the ground), it's fairly clear that;a ) You don't know what an engine is.b ) You don't know what causes those 'problems,' and why they have nothing to do with the engine in any way.It also seems you have a very odd idea of what DirectX actually does.

What ever you think Flight's is I don't care, I do have evidence that MS started with the FSX to built Flight but I won't tell you anything as I gave my word to not tell, I said it from the beginning, that's nothing new to me, call it what ever you want but to me Flight is what FSX should have been long time ago when Aces was still in business, SP3.You are probably one of the few who still think that Flight will have a brand new engine out of the box having nothing to do with FSX's ....fine with me, just start a poll and we will see how many think Flight has nothing to do with FSX.There is other forums (3RD patry developers) where they have the same idea as I do about Flight....now if you don't like what I'm saying you don't have to read or reply to my post. http://www.strikings...hp?topic=2255.0

I think that everyone who has tried it will agree that the DX10 preview does provide better performance so that should confirm that there are some DX10 API efficiencies. Besides that DX10 (in Flight) should fix some of the quirks that I've noticed when running FSX (DX9) on Vista or Win 7 since they both use DX for their UI's. Case in point is the silly UIAutomationCore.dll issue.Cheersjja

Which FSX engine are you talking about? There are several of them.

I should have not said engine but Flight started with FSX. I just edited my post.
