November 16, 201114 yr Under low system requirments: GPU: 256 MB DX 9.0c Compliant!!!NOOOOOOO!!!!So does this mean that Flight will be in DX9 with some stupid preview dx10/11??Or maybe backwards compatibility with DX10/11? That doesn't sound much better...Is this gonna be a problem, issue, nuisance, or graphics/performance decreaser?Or do I just not know what I'm talking about? Help me out JP1018
November 16, 201114 yr It's not uncommon to have DX9/DX10/DX11 compatibility. Most PC games released are compatible with DX9 so those without top-of-the-line machines can still use them. Remember that not everyone uses Vista or Windows 7 and the best that XP can do is... DX9.Just because it's a MINIMUM doesn't mean it's the MAXIMUM. November 16, 201114 yr DX9 can be used with XP, Vista, Window 7DX10 can be used with Vista, Window 7 onlyDX11 can be used with Window 7 only
November 17, 201114 yr What is the big deal? Can you actually name any of the features in DX10 or 11 that you apparently require Microsoft Flight to have to be happy?

November 17, 201114 yr I think from the latest round of pics that display cockpit self-shadowing and better shading we can rest assured that some features of DX10 have been implemented. November 18, 201114 yr I think from the latest round of pics that display cockpit self-shadowing and better shading we can rest assured that some features of DX10 have been implemented.Crysis was released with DX9 and looked fantastic, they have released a patch including DX11.....Flight does not compare to Crysis in DX9.
November 18, 201114 yr Earlier this year, they said the supported OSs would be Vista and W7, now they say XP as well. I wonder why it changed.

November 18, 201114 yr Crysis was released with DX9 and looked fantastic, they have released a patch including DX11.....Flight does not compare to Crysis in DX9.I need to clarify my statement, Crysis in DX9 look a lot better compare to Flight.
November 18, 201114 yr Crysis was released with DX9 and looked fantastic, they have released a patch including DX11.....Flight does not compare to Crysis in DX9. Exactly, but most new games still don't compare to Crysis. Crytek stated that Crysis was originally conceived as a tech demo of their Cryengine, and the game came along secondary. On my current system I still cannot get 60 FPS with Crysis' graphic options cranked all the way up! Could you imagine though if the water in MSFS rolled and bobbed like Crysis' water? It would be fantastic, but we all don't have supercomputers required to render extremely large areas with that kind of detail. IMHO, it's not fair to compare Crysis and MSFS. As a good example of what a FPS engine can achieve in flight simulation we can turn to Take On Helicopters. Yes the graphics are better than FSX, but they are still a far cry (no pun intended to those who get it) from Crysis. Take On Helicopters is over a very small area (compared to FSX), and although the graphics are comparable to what we are seeing from MS Flight and X-Plane 10, it takes an absolute hog of a machine to run at a reasonable framerate (much like ARMA 2, which utilizes the same engine). November 18, 201114 yr You are right Phil but what I was trying to get at is that I don't see anything in Flight where I can say "Hey! this has to be in DX10 or DX11" what I see so far is DX9, not that DX9 can't be enjoyable but since MS is using the same engine and are focusing on perf. if DX10 or 11 is to make it to Flight it will have to be in a future patch unless future pics or vid. release from MS clearely show something different from what they showed us so far.
November 18, 201114 yr I agree Alain, it would be nice if MS would show us a video that didn't look like FSX. :)However, I do stand by my opinion that seeing cockpit shadows in the newest Maule screenshot, which was only a feature in the DirectX 10 Preview in FSX, shows solid proof of some DX10 implementation.
