I run the NGX in windowed mode with REX ASE UTX Ultimate Taraffic 2 and Aerosoft Frankfurt at 20 FPS.
looking at your specs I would think you could get 40-50+ easily. Try in full screen mode and see the difference. Even msft does not recommend running in window mode due to perf hit.i dont have frankfurt but i have other aerosoft scenerys which run pretty fast. I have UK200 heathrow extreme which is a killer and get 30fps there...and we basically have equivalent setups.edit: here's the article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927286

I've got my work laptop that I can pull up charts, plates and release/flight plans with.

I use my iPad or iPhone... I find it much easier then messing with paper!

I was using a networked PC with Navigrah but now find myself using my IPhone for charts, weather updates etc. I prefer the way you can zoom in and flip though charts on my phone.Does anyone know if Navigraph are planning on creating an app for the iPhone/iPad?

I have real charts, but can also use a laptop if I need to.I always take care of all this before I fly. Once I'm full screen,I almost never ever leave it until I land.Heck.. Many of the shorter routes I run, I've flown them somany times I really don't need charts.. :/But if I do, I'm usually grabbing the real paper charts, terminal procedures, etc.. I could print out up to date chartsif I'd break down and pay the extortion for some printer ink. :/

But I have a TV, I want to run my TV as a second monitor to display charts. That all works fine until I switch to full screen in FSX, then the TV suddenly goes black. What settings should I use in Control Panel for an external monitor, so I can run FSX in full screen and my TV seperately?

Hi, just downloaded PDF Kneeboard and tried to install it. As described, I copied the pdfkneeboard.dll to the Modules folder. Then I added that text in the dll file (located in Appdata/Roaming/Microsoft/FSX/dll), I pasted it just before the last line (the last line was <Simbase>, or something), then I saved it. I started FSX, and when flying the Add-ons tab was gone, and the thing wasn't there. I deleted the lines from the dll.xml file again, and it was normal again but no pfdkneeboard. If you have it installed too, could you please send me your dll.xml? I'll PM you my email adress if it's possible. Thanks!

I've got a 7+ year old Toshiba laptop that I only use for charts, manuals, and RW weather reports. I also use it occasionally for web browsing during long flights. I think I picked it up for like $100 on ebay a couple years ago. I tried using my Kindle since it's much smaller, but flipping back and forth through the PDF charts is a pain and a bit slow. I download my charts from flightaware which come from the FAA charting office (USA and territories only). Totally free and always up to date. I always keep the departure and arrival airports' airport diagrams, SID's, STAR's and IAP's pulled up individually as well as the QRH. I just Alt+Tab through them while in the air. The nice thing about the flightaware packaging of the charts is they lump them into large files...one each for the SID, STAR, IAP and airport diagram for any given airport. It makes downloading them a breeze and relatively easy to navigate.
