Aerosoft's German Airports 2 (2012) released

Featured Replies

New versions of Cologne/Bonn, Hannover, Dortmund, Munster/Osnabruck and Leipzig/Halle have been released as a free upgrade if you already own this package. I'm pretty sure the updated airports are available separately as well. Thanks Aerosoft for supporting us FS9-ers, I hope us FS9-ers are continuing to support you!Cheers, SLuggy

I upadated my Dortmund scenery and I have a question. What was updated/added/changed to Dortmund? I don't think see anything different between the version I had and the new one.

Among the changes I noticed are new higer res base photo images. AES lite around the airport (car traffic). Addition of 3D cars in the parking lots and of course any new navigation and airport building updates.

Al Stiff

Says he, cynically ... Launcher aware?
No - none of these updates require the Aerosoft launcher.

Graeme Butler

graemb maybe NOT requiring Launcher but Launcher IS now aware of these updates ... see Category Unknown.

I downloaded it but didn't install it as I wanted to see if it required the launcher. So please let everyone know for certain...On a side note...I wonder what's going to happen to independent vendors like SimMarket if aerosoft succeeds in implementing it's guaranteed and secure distribution bot network?Do you think the blow back will be higher prices as the already limited choice of distributors shrink? Just thinking out loud here :)MarkQuick Edit 1 : Graeme, you sure?Quick Edit 2 : Oh, they're not cataloging your system...not them...they don't do things like that...forsooth...

I got my installer from SImmarket. Strange thing was around 10 minutes after I installed I saw a black helicopter with an 'Aerosoft' logo hovering over my house. Rolling%20Eyes.gifDuring the install no launcher is invoked, nor installed. It IS present under 'Category Unknown', same as the old version was.Cheers, SLuggy

Ha! That's a good one...The slugster rocks!Yeah, bot networks...if it's got a tail and it barks...Mark

Correction ... now under Sceneries, no longer under Category Unknown. Very strange indeed.Another observation ... the updates WILL install Launcher if it determines that proggie doesn't already appear in your Registry. See opening screens, towards the bottom.

Ok Mark... We KNOW you don't trust the Launcher, but please don't start unsubstantiated rumors about what it does or doesn't do. Aerosoft will continue to sell their sceneries through Simmarket (which is where I buy all of mine) and their Launcher does not and will not become their distribution tool. In fact, I got a notice from Simmarket about the updates before I got one from Aerosoft and I downloaded the installers direct from Simmarket, not through the Launcher. And for the record, the Launcher wasn't installed during the process of updating the scenery files.

Let's see...I don't trust the launcher or I simply don't like to have spyware/bots on my box? Actually, I think I trust the launcher and it's spyware. I also think that aerosoft is making a move and this is simply phase one of a plan. It could be used to push out the competition in the distribution market...(sensitive spot there bud?)...could be used for a lot of things...but only time will tell, right :)I mean typically, you don't see an increase in sales revenue simply because you deploy a anti-privacy tool like the launcher, do you? I would think that you'd see a decrease in sales because most normal people really don't want that type of invasive monitoring software on their systems.Simmers with complex setups are no exception but as I said before, it's up to the individual. Honestly, I might actually give it a go one day, who knows? What I'm really starting to wonder about is your stake in this is bonkster. I mean, you realize that you're pushing an anti-privacy stance pretty hard here. You're not representing any consulting firms which are hired as shills to extoll the virtues of something without virtue, you know, gloss over the little bumps in the road?Simple yes or no will do on that, and it's not meant as an insult, just rather as a point of fact. That type of consulting is becoming more and more prevalent and there are quite a few companies doing it. They tend to target web sites which have a stake in a products future and it's perceived market penetration. The "You never know when you might be missing something..." speal makes me feel like I'm not with the program by the way.Interestingly enough I just finished writing some anti-fraud software for an institution here in OZ and happened across a few of those firms in my travels. They're real heavy hitters you know, think they're all smart and stuff like that...I suppose that they are. Well gosh, I feel better now, how 'bought you? Got all of that off my chest and I'm ready to install the spyware on my system because it's good for me to do it. Wow, therapeutic...thanks for that bonkster!!!Mark

Rolling%20Eyes.gif Just make sure you don't lose the tin foil hat.. you'll need it to communicate with those from your planet!

Bonkster, I from the planet named mirth. I live with all of the other mirth-lings and we wait for the latest spyware to poke fun at...and you didn't answer the question. Don't bother, it doesn't matter anyway :)Mark
