December 7, 201114 yr I saw something last night that I felt I just had to share with everyone on here. I had just landed a Lufthansa regional Dash-8(Majestic) at Aerosoft's newly updated Paderborn in Germany. It was night and I taxied to a ramp and shut down close to several overhead flood lights. After shut down I panned around just to look from the outside before closing FS9 when something caught my eye. It was as I was panning past the flood lights - I saw movement around the lamps. I panned back and what I saw just made me grin like a kid. They have modelled moths - yes moths - attracted to the light and milling around. Totally realistic movement. And what makes it even more astonishing is that using AESLite the entire background of a highly detailed airport was full of realistic, smoothly moving vehicle traffic. With NO FRAME RATE HIT - smooth as the proverbial "baby's bottom." WOWCongrats to the Aerosoft team but also another example of how the potential of FS9 has still not been fully exploited - there can still be something new and amazing!!! I love this sim!!Ian

I can literally feel and share your joy.I don't have Paderborn but I have updated my Leipzig, so will check what surprises are waiting there.I wish you many more great moments with all this gorgeous stuff...
December 8, 201114 yr After all of these years of flying into UK2000 EGLL with Visual Flight London all of a sudden I looked down just now on my final to 27R to see a boat going down the river towards London with a full wake behind it! Can't believe after probably 1,000 landings at EGLL that is the first time I caught it!!!your moment inspired me Ian ;) Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

Heaps of AI boats with the wake. I have the Padderborn with the update so I am firing up the sim to go check it out NOW!!! Thanks for the heads up!!!
December 8, 201114 yr These kinds of story really inspiring. I said to myself, "see?? fs9 users are still there.." since the developers have started leaving fs9. About the detail you have described, I can picture it really :) fun indeed. Though havent got such experience since I am often stormed by the pre flight, before engine shut down etc. :(
December 8, 201114 yr the developers have started leaving fs9Not really, mate. Some never cared about FS9, some stopped carying, some care about both FS9 and FSX, still some returned to making FS9 addons and there are some who make FS9 ones exclusively.
December 8, 201114 yr Not really, mate. Some never cared about FS9, some stopped carying, some care about both FS9 and FSX, still some returned to making FS9 addons and there are some who make FS9 ones exclusively.I do hope so :) . Or at least if they must turn to fsx completely, let the pmdg's 777 be the last fs9 product, amen.
December 8, 201114 yr I think PMDG is out of the FS9 business. When the NGX was being developed, they originally said that they would most likely develop for both FS9 and FSX. As time went on they moved away from that position and were pretty adamant that they would not be developing for FS9 anymore.
December 8, 201114 yr MothSim 2004 !!A very nice touch, and yes, since the majority cannot run FSX well, me included, and in this economic situation, there is still a huge potential inthe FS9 world I think.
December 8, 201114 yr Just this last week I have added to my FS9 sim:AnchorageKevlafikOrlandoNewcastleBergenUpdated:-HeathrowFrankfurtCologne-BonnDortmundHannoverLeipzig-HalleMuenster-OsnabruckNavigraph airport charts (161 of them!)On the weekend I plan to add Blueprint Raleigh-Durham and Cleveland Hopkins (well nobody else does them), Latin VFR Miami, Tropical Sim Belize. Wonder what Xmas specials tempt me this year?Who said FS9 is dead? I hope to run it for the next dozen years. I fly all over the world except Africa and South America (plenty or room for expansion eh!) in heavies, turboprops and GA. Can't get enough of it! Long live FS9/FS2004.
December 8, 201114 yr I wonder what sort of de-icing equipment moths use at this time of year ;-) Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)
December 8, 201114 yr Author It really is incredible that after all these years this sim can still cause amazement. For me, REX has really made it almost a brand new sim and with all the incredible enhancements, I think I'm enjoying it more than ever. Perhaps we should stop calling it FS9 and refer to it as FS9.9Well, I'm off to fly an A-4 off the USS Enterprise with Megascenery Oahu in the background, REX textures, Zinertek water and five fantastic Hawaiin airports from FSDT to divert to if I can't get her back on the deck. (Oh, and not to forget 3Wire who make it possible to get back on the deck!) The addiction never seems to end! LOL I wonder what sort of de-icing equipment moths use at this time of year ;-)I think their biggest worry isn't icing but getting too close to the lamps and bursting into flames! LOL But if I see them start to turn white and flutter to the ground, I will adjust the weather settings as I'd hate to lose them so soon after discovering them!BTW guys - another jaw-dropping moment is to fly a helo around Gibraltar with the Aerosoft scenery. (No, I'm not being paid by them to write this! LOL) I made my entire family trudge down to my "man cave" to see the way the traffic flows around the traffic circles and how the barriers and lights close down the road that runs across the runway when an aircraft approaches. Absolutely priceless! The talent of the people who make these addons is almost beyond belief for an old codger like me!Cheers mateIan
