VNAV Behavior Takeoff after SP1b upgrade?

Featured Replies

Getting steep angle when engaging AP with VNAV at about 1000 ft. causing aircraft to stale (all models), seemed to work OK with just SP1 installed, any ideasArming Vnav on ground, when engage TO/GA, Vnav goes off, then at about 1000 re engage and engage AP... then steep climb with stale...

Weird, any more details?I don't get that at all, take off is perfect.
Same here...no problems. Is FMC programming clean with perf init and FMC climb speeds set properly?

Arming Vnav on ground, when engage TO/GA, Vnav goes off, then at about 1000 re engage and engage AP... then steep climb with stale... using fsbuild to create flightplan than importing into FMC

Try this - arm VNAV on the ground. At 400 feet, turn on the A/P. Don't touch anything else until 3000 feet. You might be getting a bit confused by the modes and the FMA. The VNAV might not actually be "going off."

Please post screenshots if you still think there's an issue - there most likely isn't and we'll be able to tell what's wrong in your configuration from the screenshot.

I don't think it's an PMDG issue. try this guys..Runway entrance procedure when cleared for the active runway.Advance the throttles to approx 40% N1. ;Let the engines stablize. Then set takeoff power ( Press TOGA)"Gearup" after "positive rate"400 feet: "SELECT HEADING SELECT OR SELECET LNAV" as ATC instructions..1000 or 1500 feet: climb thrust depending on your profileset flaps or level change as requiredretract the flaps on schedule.after flaps retraction is complete select the VNAVthen press CMDTry that out for size i use this method and it works everytime..Just another word of advice.. when your planning your flight in the FMC you will notice on page 2 of the takeoff speeds there is an option to enter your runway heading aswell as the wind speed. also there is below an option for the runway degree angle . this must be entered and you will notice that on takeoff your plane will fly str8 as the heading select will automatically be on the right heading so you won't be banking round ..

Don't ever arm the VNAV on the ground m8.. that is bad practice..

No, thats not true, it's not bad practice at all. Absolutely permissible to arm VNAV, and LNAV on the ground prior to takeoff. Absolutely permissible with the Collins MCP/FMC, that is.

Well my dads m8 flys 738 and he said that he has never done this in his whole life of flying always after takeoff what happens if you arm the LNAV then forget you have and arm the CMD the plane will go into a very sharpe turn depending on your waypoint etcI will just say everyone has there own way of flying

i never arm l-nav and v-nav on the ground so im safe lolBlake

Maybe pilots are trained not to forget things like that and if they do then they should consider a change in career

Hi, I noticed that too but not every time. I thought that might be a problem with my installation. I thought to do more tests before speaking about but no time for now...I'm not at all sure but try this : if you created a flight plan with a third party addon, load it into the FMC then save it with the SAVE option of the FMC, reload it into then test the take off procedure with VNAV armed ON ground. Is that it solves something ?Concerning VNAV armed on ground, YES we can, so please no polemic about, it's off topic ;-).If I have time I'll try to do other tests, the problem is that it's not reproducible every time.Regards,Richard Portier
