Hi AllI was looking for some help from the knowledgeable masses on here!For as long as I can remember, my ground textures just look horrible.I have several add on products, a decent spec PC/graphics set up, and it's really bugging me!When in spot view mode, the ground/sea textures are blocky and awful, and take ages to render. Even when they fully "load" they still look pretty dreadful.I have no problems with the way aircraft detail etc looks so I presume it's some problem with my set up.Anyone able to help me solve the problem?I've attached some screenshots showing what I mean.This is when I first go into spot mode:Then after a while, some detail pops inAnd this one shows the blocky sea textures - horrible!

From someone else next to EGGD, I have to admit as being in the dark when it comes to FS9, however, if your cfg was for FSX I'd ask what on earth is TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=25600! I suggest you delete your cfg. Let FSX build a new one, lock your frame rate to 25 ( for starters) then run with your autogen set at normal. See how that improves things.

I don't suggest you start from scratch unless you have to otherwise you will be re-programming joysticks etc....Howard, when it comes to troubleshooting the motto is KISS Keep It Simple Stupid (not calling you stupid lol, that is the motto we as engineers live by when troubleshooting)So rather than going to the worst case scenario of starting from scratch first keep it simple...The two setting I pointed out above are blatantly wrong. let's start by correcting the obvious errors before we start suggesting someone blow away their entire .cfg.....BTW, the 400 number has been debated recently and I "believe" I run something like 25600 as well...Again, I see MAYBE 4 or 5 lines I would edit in his .cfg one at a time to try and isolate what is really going on, your knee jerk reaction to delete the .cfg as a first step is not the way I would go...

How is rebuilding his entire .cfg and re-programming everything easier than making 4 or 5 changes and seeing if he gets the intended results? A new .cfg is not quick and easy and you have to reprogram EVERYTHING, keystrokes, joysticks, buttons, .cfg customizations, display settings, it is like day 1... For me re-programming my joysticks alone is at least 30 minutes when he could just change the lines I suggested above and put 10 minutes into troubleshooting before starting from scratch...

How is rebuilding his entire .cfg and re-programming everything easier than making 4 or 5 changes and seeing if he gets the intended results? A new .cfg is not quick and easy and you have to reprogram EVERYTHING, keystrokes, joysticks, buttons, .cfg customizations, display settings, it is like day 1... For me re-programming my joysticks alone is at least 30 minutes when he could just change the lines I suggested above and put 10 minutes into troubleshooting before starting from scratch...

Fair do's You obviously know more about it than me.By all means if your way is quicker then it would be sensible to follow you're advice.Not being an expert ,I have always just gone down the rebuild CFG route.I don't remember it being a long winded affair ,but no matter.If I should B****R up things in the future I shall be calling on you for advice. :wink:cheers a happy and FLIGHTY (run on older PCs please not an oil sheikh ) New year to ALL.Andy
