January 5, 201214 yr Wow Diego you have made 800 posts in 3 months? You'll be the top poster on avsim if you keep going the way you are - compliment.Rich David Andrew - desert based - a330/350 rated.
January 5, 201214 yr The MD-11 is incredible. It just about the only plane I've been flying the past 18 months. I would get the NGX but I'm still on FS9 Chris B. Trane
January 5, 201214 yr Nah man, I'm more of a airliner person... It's my dream job, and using FSX is the only way I can imagine myself in the cockpit of a real airplane. The 377 is an airliner ;) Lukas "TIN TIN -=9th Shrek=-" Mathijsen
January 5, 201214 yr Author The 377 is an airliner ;)I looked it up and it looks like a fighter jet.Wow Diego you have made 800 posts in 3 months? This proves that this community surpasses all others! i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
January 5, 201214 yr I looked it up and it looks like a fighter jet.Do you searched for the Boeing 377? The aerodynamicly worst airplain I have seen up to now? With it's 4 propeller engines, and the lower lounge? Capable of carrying up to 70 people? Flying about 200 knots indicated at cruise? John Rubens
January 5, 201214 yr Author Oh I see.But no thanks.I decided to wait a little more. ;) i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
January 5, 201214 yr Get the MD-11! Or if you like short hauls, get the PMDG JS41 (another GREAT aircraft!). I own the QW757 (and would highly recommend that as well), but since you already have the NGX, you really don't need another NB at this time. So either get the MD-11 (again as everyone else has said...IT IS GREAT), or get the JS41 (again, a GREAT product) so you can broaden your scope

January 5, 201214 yr Don't forget you can do short hauls in the MD-11, though I suppose it isn't done very often ;) Lukas "TIN TIN -=9th Shrek=-" Mathijsen
January 5, 201214 yr What does NB mean?NB = Narrow Body (airliners with only one aisle)WB = Wide Body (two aisles, like the 767)SWB = Wide Bodies that are big (i.e. the 747, A380)Now, to answer your question of how difficult it is to learn: I hate reading boring material (I read for my job), so it took me forever to learn how to fly the PMDG JS41 (I found the answers needed with my VA's forums). Anyway, with the MD-11 I ran the tutorial (not too much reading), then the advanced tutorial and have been flying it since with no issues. I can start it from a "Long Ground Turn" (panel option provided), load my FMC, get everything set up, file my flight plan (through VATSIM) and push back in about 10 minutes.

John Rubens
January 6, 201214 yr Do you use the IRS real time alligment?Sometimes I will, sometimes I won't...depending on whether I want to wait or not. Obviously when I use the real-time alignment my time to get it set up is longer. Basic idea of this post was to let him know that the learning curve isn't that bad on this aircraft.
January 6, 201214 yr Okay Paul,Thanks for the information. I just tought that I am so slow, because I normaly need up to 20 minutes, when doing some tests (fire tests, etc.). :wink:And you are right. The learning curve is really good on the MD11. The automatic systems do a good job there. So we can fully concentrate on handflying this heavy beauty. John Rubens
