Is there a chance

Featured Replies

The title says it all. A rather naive but crystal clear and straightforward question. Is there a last minute hope and a chance that MS might alter their decision and tailor Flight as a flight sim? My question has two sides. The 1st is if MS is reading the community and then decides to change it, and the 2nd is if technically is possible.

I believe there is but I also think it will take 5 years to mature from its current state....Just saying is all. If it happens that is about the right timing...If not then so be it.Cheers

Waiting for some years after the realease is no great news because we did it in the past anyway. Well lets hope

3 months before the planned release ? - No chance.Seriously - 0.0%.

The only possibility is that they release portions of countries big as USA, Europe etc.. and they open to third party its toy, of course with a SDK.In theory technically they can but they will never do therefore there is no chance.

There is ZERO chance of it happening, and if the launch of FLIGHT is a colossal failure and loses money, its more likely to be canceled than redesigned.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Well to be honest when FSX was released I bought it right away...I didn't start using until after 2 years.Lets face it...FSX was default aircraft which was no challenge against 3rd party development from FS2004. It was also default Scenery and FS2004 had some really good scenery as well (and still does). So far MS Flight is some crappy little car like aircraft and Hawaii only and the woman instructor keeps telling me to fly around these stupid balloons and all...LOLLike I said, Flight is about 5 years away from being something comparable to what is out there today.IF ONLY MICROSOFT CAN SETTLE THE DIFFERENCES with the current developers that actually make this product happen...What can I say....I Gave Flight a chance with an open mind and some crazy woman kept telling me to fly around balloons like some crazy XBOX game...LOL I don't know what to say after that one, other then Microsoft told me to say nothing....and that is even more laughable...CHEERS

Mark, if they pay attention and read the communities then for sure they see and feel the great KABOOM of the last 3 days so there might be a hope of MS put some sense and change heading

They must have made some studies and educated guesses of where the money is and decided that the first group to go after are gamers. They probably figured that the serious simmers probably is too small a segment to go after.I have no real idea of numbers, but my guess is gamers are measured in millions while flightsimmers are measured in thousands.Microsoft Flight may become a success moneywise because there are a lot of gamers, but I am pretty sure it won't be a success among the serious flightsimmers (avsim readers etc).Microsoft is not going to switch strategy that quickly. Maybe 6 months after release if sales are too low.

Every smart company would recognize its huge mistake but MS are definitely trying to lobotomize the world, above all the youngest ones therefore they will keep on pushing ( for few weeks ) their toy and then it will fade in the silence of the world. You are right of course and I agree but Joshua Coward and its baby gang will never admit their fault, like some forum members already did BTW.

Helge, for sure the gamers will download it because it is free. They will play around Hawaii for some hours, they will say how cool it is, then they will switch it next day and the story goes on. How many days you think they will play with it? I strongly believe not more than 6 months. Why? because for the game players there is no action. They need to shoot things, like in an arcade game. They will get bored. How many times they will fly on those silly hovering coins to collect points? 2,3,......20 times? The success of MSFS is because of us. Us, the serious dedicated simmers and that's why there might be a hope in the future.

6 months ? How can you enjoy collecting balloons and coins in the blue sky for 6 months ? I would say no more than 6 minutes, optimistically speaking.

So MS will see their product failure earlier

Panos Kotzias

Yeah even the lobotomized average hard core arcade very casual gamer is smart enough to avoid to test Flight cause collecting coins and hitting balloons pertain to late 1970 atari games.Even Pac Man or Ghost'n'Goblins could be labaled as hard core simulators if compared to Flight.

MS knew exactly what the great KABOOM would be among the serious simmers. They had already decided to ditch those when they set Flight on the current course. With the game in a 'closed' beta of this size and three months before release all the features are locked. Any change of course will only come with a big post release update or with a new version.
