While I agree you should use the search function, I'll just go say it:It's not a PMDG issue, it's a sim issue. The sim only uses the model without running most animations in the recording. It's basically just running your aircraft around using Slew. It's not like a video-based recording like you're probably thinking.

Well it worked in FS9, so if FSX is superior the question remains?

I'm not even going to bother to answer that one................

I just answered it.Most complex animations don't run in the FS rplay. It's not built for that. It's a giant slew mode that picks up on certain simple animations and displays them. If you want an actual recording, get something like FSRecorder as mentioned. If you have an objection to the way MS implemented the replay system, that's an issue with Microsoft, first, and second, FSX is loads better than FS9 in a wide range of things. Hanging that on the replay system is a bit of an overstatement and false argument.

That's down right silly. I don't think you quite fathom the complexity of the simulation you're using, and the work arounds PMDG used to get you this realistic simulation. Are you trolling?

No need to get snooty! There's a work around, just listen.I ended up using FSRecorder, and it's a much better replay platform either way.

Dave -Let me explain it this way:In FSX or FS9 there are many built-in ways to create an airplane. Look at all the freeware planes out there. You can create an external model, throw some gauges in and link to various built-in FS functions. Such as airspeed, altitude, flaps spoilers etc. These are all basic. To create a complex aircraft, PMDG, and many others, bypass poor, incorrect or inefficient canned MS functions and write their own code/animations so that it works the way they want it to.The default FSX recoding system only records the standard, built-in flight sim functions. When a developer goes outside the box and makes their own animations/code etc FSX doesnt record it because it doesn't realize it's happening. FSX isn't making a video type recording, it's basically making a black-box style recording of all the FS internal data points (airspeed, LAT/LONG, flap position) then when you replay it, it's just re-flying it based on the data points. If the plane is doing it's own thing, the sim never sees it.I hope that clears it up a bit.

Thanks Noah.To Zach; No I am not trolling at all nor have I ever been snooty, just a misunderstanding on why FS9 shows RT working and FSX doesen't. They don't make Avsim Moderator's from Trolls.

I just meant you seemed be getting angry... And asking a strange question after getting an answer for it already. How long have you been with FSX, Dave?

Dave,FSX uses what's called a "bone" based animation system - FS9 did not. The movement of the bones, which allows for much smoother and more realistic animations than were possible in FS9, is driven by code that we write. That code is only triggered by certain custom "events" that we also write and MS chose not to record those events in the default replay system. Thus there's a ton of animations that don't get triggered during a normal FSX replay playback. There is a freeware program called FS Recorder that most people use to make FSX replays and videos because it is able to read the events and retrigger them during the replay so that bone-based animations show up correctly:http://www.fs-recorder.net

Not really even a legit question, just some animations developers choose are more advance then FSX replay can handle. This is a good thing, it means developers are pushing the limits. Guess your not to familiar with that rockin' the iFly sig.
