January 28, 201214 yr Commercial Member The overhead hasn't changed because of costs to the airlines, not because it's perfect... It's far from it. Look at the 777 and 787 overheads - far simpler. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
January 28, 201214 yr Thats quite interesting. I know the 777 and 787 are much more modern and simpler, but i really didnt think that 737 would remain the same mainly due to the cost to the airlines. I find that an interesting fact. thanks for everyone's insight. Max PMDG 747X & 737NGX Pilot
June 28, 201312 yr The MIP artist renditions are out. Looks pretty similar to the 800's http://boeing.mediaroom.com/index.php?s=13&item=2276 I am interested because this would be a **considerable** saving for the cockpit builder. Soarbywire - Avionics Engineering
June 28, 201312 yr The 737 MAX is supposed to save the airlines much money (fuel etc.). So I think the cockpit will stay with only minor changes. Why? Because if they really want the airlines to save money, then they will leave the cockpit as it is, otherwise the pilots will need a new type rating, and type ratings are not really cheap. I know that myself, because my total education for my ATPL and Type Rating for the 737 NG (No Classics, just the NG) will cost around 70.000€ in one of the best flightschools in Germany, while there are even acceptable prices such as 90.000€ for ATPL+Type Rating. Not sure how much the type rating alone costs, but as I said, the airlines would save a lot of money if they just buy the aircraft without paying their pilots a new TR. That's why I THINK the cockpit won't change that much. It could though.. Intercockpit? IMO, MAX series deserve their own full add on. It is a completely new line (like Classics and NGs), even though all they share similarities. Who know, maybe by, let's say, 2020 we'll get MAX series from PMDG. On a side note, it's interesting how various 737 families mimicked the cockpits of their bigger brothers. 737 CL - 757/767, 737 NG - 777, 737 MAX - 787. Dmitrij Nazarenko
June 28, 201312 yr It might be too early for the MAX, but a lot of NGs will start adopting the MAX scimitar winglets, which will add a small range increase. That would obviously require PMDG to make visual model changes and modifying the performance. June 28, 201312 yr Well, heres hoping PMDG can begin the planning stages for PMDG Max for a launch with the real aircraft fall 2017 <v>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vD828p9Nt0U</v> Soarbywire - Avionics Engineering
June 28, 201312 yr The MIP artist renditions are out. Looks pretty similar to the 800's My 800NGX VC does not look like that! June 28, 201312 yr Yes but if you look carefully everything is just transposed to the 2 monitors. It simplifies building the cockpit! Soarbywire - Avionics Engineering
June 30, 201312 yr my dad works for swa and he said he will be suprised if they change the cokpit any, most of the procdures will be the same it is suppose to save money trianing pilots the differences will cost a lot of money Weston Hall
June 30, 201312 yr Commercial Member The cockpit is definitely changing - that picture posted earlier in this thread is from an official Boeing press release. It looks like a cross between an NG and a 787. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
June 30, 201312 yr I had a chat with the people at flyengravity and they have said it should be no issues implementing an MIP for the 737-MAX, the design is not as complex as the NG. ; they will only need software support which can hopefully come from Prosim737, or PMDG Hopefully software support will be for consideration from the big players.
