February 2, 201214 yr Moderator Hehe, good luck with the download, it's well worth it though Phill. You will never fly without real weather again!!Cheers,Pete I9-13900K, RTX 4090, DR5-6000MHZ, CORSAIR ICUE H150I ELITE, ASUS PRIME Z790-P, THERMALTAKE TOUGHPOWER GF3 1350W, WIN 11
February 2, 201214 yr You can't go wrong with Active Sky, just wished I had held off buying REX for a month or so.. .. .. :sad:G Gary Davies aka "Gazzareth" Simming since 747 on the Acorn Electron
February 3, 201214 yr I was using hifi v6.5 a while back and switched to REX mainly due to better hi-res textures and their 4GB overdrive feature.I will have to agree with Geogre (gmohr) as the current REX 2.0 + overdirve (besides excellent textures) does have stability issues in terms of sudden wind changes (and I mean wild changes) and issues with fog appearing from no where at low altitudes in certain areas. While there are FSUIPC settings updates to help reduce the wind changes, it does not correct it completely so I have turned off the live weather engine for now.REX essential is said to not only fix these issues but bring in many more features for Free (as an update for existing REX customers). Which is a real bonus from REX teams perspective considering the huge list of updates / additions.Details on what REX Essential brings is here: http://www.realenvir...-rex-essential/I must add that its worth reading. There is another REX studios payware (Simair) that is yet be released but that is a different topic.I was considering AS2012 but held off as soon as I heard of Essential. Will let you guys know if its any better once its released and installed. At this stage though, no ETA on when that will be..My opinion for now anyways is :For a stable weather engine : AS2012 may be a better choice (from what I have heard anyways)For weather related textures : REX2.0 + Overdrive (you just can;t go wrong from my experience)Hope this is better than my last two updates ;-)cheers,Mario Edited February 3, 201214 yr by mario340500 Mario Lobo P3D v:4.5| Win 10 2004 x64 pro | ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-E | i9-9900KS@ 5.1Ghz(OC) | Thermaltake Water Extreme 3.0 | G.SKILL F4-3200C14D-32GTRS TZ Royal (16x2)32G Kit DDR4 3200Mhz | 11GB RTX 2080 TI Asus STRIX OC| 1x Samsung 970 PRO M.2 512GB | Samsung 970 PRO 1TB | 2x Samsung 860 PRO 2TB| Tt ToughpowerXT 875W | CoolerMaster HAF X Tower
February 3, 201214 yr I was a REX textures plus ASE user, but have switched to AS2012 for both functions and ditched REX. I am very happy with this setup, and I think AS2012 does a great job at simulating real world weather within FSX limitations. I have even disabled FSUIPC weather smoothing as the new DWC mode with AS2012 does not cause any crazy wind shifts. Shane Gavin
February 3, 201214 yr I hardly use ASE anymore - much prefer FSrealWX lite a brilliant freeware program. Gives me much more realistic overcast layers.Save your money and try it out:http://www.rs-transline.de/index.php?page=self&id=2
