February 5, 201214 yr It was a pleasure my friend. I hope ti jolly well works. Fingers crossed :)One slight snag. I've seen these types of utilities before and even though they find the errors, to fix them one has to register=cough up $$$. Ouch! And alas, it crashes with a .dll error. Ah well, you win some you lose some. Thanks nevertheless. Edited February 5, 201214 yr by vc10man Rick Almeida
February 5, 201214 yr Darn it. Sometimes I hate google. Just a quick question, are you porting over from a fS9 version of that scenery ? February 5, 201214 yr Julian, there is only one word for you----ACE!!Muchos Gracias. So did you learn anything about these three files?I downloaded the CanarySim last night. Took about 3 hours. Installed it this morning in FSX. Seems to work OK. The self installer is only if you have the FS9 version installed. Just forget it and place or make the standard folders in your FSX/Addon Scenery folder. Then do the 'add to library routine'. Three bgl files go in the FSX/Scenery 0502 folder. A couple of a 'texture' folder, most don't. Bmps go there. The FV and LA airports are kinda useless to me. I deleted them. 98% of these two islands are totally barren.I looks to me like GCLA is in there twice, so I took the later date files and used them. End result is a few nice big airports in the Canary Islands and the Island of Gran Cararia now looks like FS2004 scenery but the main airport looks real nice. The city has a few cruise ships, tankers, and condos. The smaller one not so good. The photoreal scenery looks to be about 20 years old, maybe on 19, but still very low resolution.Bottom line, it looks better than the FSX default.Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
February 5, 201214 yr Darn it. Sometimes I hate google. Just a quick question, are you porting over from a fS9 version of that scenery ?No, it's a brand new FSX. I tend to stay away from port-overs from what I've read here.@RayNice one. Thanks. So what was that fab-looking GCLP airport I took off from earlier on today? Because I do not have any FS9 sceneries and all I ran was that self-installer, then placed the Land Class below the LP scenery.FV=Fuerteventura(vent of fire) is indeed a very barren island. It was where NASA practised their lunar landings because of the mainly volcanic landscape. As a matter of fact, the locals take European tourists to certain spots where they actually ignite flares from the earth's cauldron below! Edited February 5, 201214 yr by vc10man Rick Almeida
February 5, 201214 yr I am just playing with it now. I have FWI Canary I installed so not sure the outcome. Reading Ray's post above, I think I have done it wrong. February 5, 201214 yr @Julian @JoseRight, at last I've figured it all out. When I first saw that screengrab that tom79 posted, looking at his list of the other Canaries airports, I thought they were included in that zip file that for a ridiculously 690Mb file took 3 hours average to be downloaded. Which is why I went hunting in those *.D01 files.Upon checking back at Sim-Giants site it is only GCLP which is a freeware from them, not any other Canaries airports such El Hierro, GCFV, etc, etc. These are payware. So, the Sim-Giants' GCLP airport which I installed and admired as I flew from, is the correctly installed and is the only one from SIm-Giants that is freeware.Q.E.D. February 5, 201214 yr I did not have an English version either. I just picked the box that was colored. Dangerous maybe. Looking at the screenshot of the Library above. I did not end up with a folder named GCLA Airport, just the GCLA folder immediately below that one. Each folder must have a 'Scenery' folder as a minimum, you can also have a "texture" folder also but not necessary. Only BGL files should be in those Scenery folders. Bmps go in the Texture folders. Last item is to add the Scenery folders to the Library and click OK.RayBTW Orbx has a new free small airport in Canada - Look for CEJ4 - at their site. It is in the Northern Rocky Mountains if you have that addon. Edited February 5, 201214 yr by raymar When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .

February 5, 201214 yr OK, so here's a short summary on how to install the project canaries scenery:1) Run the ProjectCanary 2006 FSX Direct Install v1.1.exe installer. Use the FSX main directory as installation target. This will extract files in the following directories: [FSXDIR]Canarysim (roughly 47MB) [FSXDIR]Scenery (roughly 811MB) [FSXDIR]Texture (roughly .3 MB) There's no need to open the .D01 and .D02 files yourself. That's what the installer exe does.As you can see, it puts many stuff directly into the FSX scenery folder, so once its there it can't be turned off in the scenery library. If you are more cautious, don't let the installer extract the files into the FSX main directory, but point it to some other directory instead, but that may involve more work and I'm not sure if it works.2) Run FSX and add the following directories to your scenery library so they appear in this order (i.e. start with the bottom of the list): [FSXDIR]CanarysimProject Canarias 2006Terrain - dataLA_FU [FSXDIR]CanarysimProject Canarias 2006Terrain - dataFV_HI_FU [FSXDIR]CanarysimProject Canarias 2006Terrain - dataGCLB [FSXDIR]CanarysimProject Canarias 2006Terrain - dataGCLP [FSXDIR]CanarysimProject Canarias 2006Terrain - dataGCXO [FSXDIR]CanarysimProject Canarias 2006Terrain - dataGCHI [FSXDIR]CanarysimProject Canarias 2006Terrain - dataGCGM [FSXDIR]CanarysimProject Canarias 2006Airport - dataGCLA [FSXDIR]CanarysimProject Canarias 2006Terrain - dataGCLA [FSXDIR]CanarysimProject Canarias 2006Terrain - dataGCCC As Ray noted, GCLA appears twice in the list. I'm not sure if one is just a patch or the other. I left it in there. If you also downloaded SimGiant's GCLP, then put it above the Project Canaries sceneries.Hope that helps. Regards, Tom

I have about 6-7 sceneries from ORBX but have not seen this NRM. Rick Almeida
