February 6, 201214 yr Hi Ray, I don't want to sound dumb, but having read your excellent review which I complimented you on, my knowledge of sceneries is nowhere are near as yours, so please tell me what exactly is NRM. I have about 6-7 sceneries from ORBX but have not seen this NRM.North Rocky Mountains.Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
February 6, 201214 yr @TomFollowed your instructions to the tee. However, upon trying the airports, this is what I get: GCGM--------instant CTD GCHI----------instant CTD GCLA---------instant CTD GCLP---------OK GCLB---------OK GCLP---------OK GCXO---------OK GCFV---------OK but has some weird flat-topped mountains at the back as can be seen from the screengrab Any ideas? Thanks. Rick Almeida

Thanks. Check to see the 3 bgl files got copied to the 502 folder. Check your FSX/Addon Scenery folder for the bad ones and see if you have a Scenery folder with bgls files inside each folder. Check that you have indeed added the bad ones to your Scenery Library.Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
February 6, 201214 yr Thanks, Ray. Will try that tomorrow. Super Bowl at the moment taking priority! Rick Almeida

Anyway, I plodded on and got varying results. On 3 of the non-functioning airports, they seemed to work allowing me to load FSX, but only if I selected a night departure time. The minute I switched to a day departure time,it CTD'd FSX. Additionally, GCLA,same scenario(night only), but looks like there is another .bgl layer underneath because my test Trike was sort of 'floating'.Any ideas? Or maybe you can list which .bgls I'm looking for? In the Addon Scenery folder you refer to, there were no sub-folders with the names of those 3 misfiring airports or the other functioning airports, so could not see any scenery folders with the bgls.Thanks. Thanks. Hi Rick!Just tested the airports on my system. With GCLA, I get the same CTD during daytime. Disabling one of the GCLA entries (the one with higher priority) in the scenery library seems to fix this, but gives you some weird terrain elevation along the runway. I shall investigate this.GCGM and GCHI work fine over here (switchted between day and night several times, but no CTD).Regarding GCFV: I couldn't see those mesh errors like in your screenshot on my system. Maybe it's because we have different mesh settings (i have all sliders to the right). Will report back with more results. Edited February 6, 201214 yr by tom79 Regards, Tom
February 6, 201214 yr Hi TomThanks for that feedback. I normally am quite au fait with installing sceneries but this one has really stumped me, so it's nice to know that it wasn't just me being a numpty.Yes, I too was wondering at the weird-looking unreal textured mountains with pointed peaks, etc looming large.Look forward to what you come up with. I'll look into the mesh settings now that you have mentioned it. Rick Almeida
February 6, 201214 yr Rick,I just googled a little and it seems that other people were having the same problem. Luckily, someone also provided a fix:Go to [FSX_DIR]CanarysimProject Canarias 2006Airport - dataGCLASCENERYand locate the file named Iluminacion_GCLA.bgl , then rename it to Iluminacion_GCLA.bgl.offThat fixed it for me. Hope that helps!Cheers,Tom Thanks for this. I didn't know T. February 6, 201214 yr TomTried your last idea. The daytime CTD was fixed, thanks. But please look at the attached screenshots. Something weird here at GCLA and GCHI, and all my scenery sliders are at full blast.Bottom shot is GCLAAny further ideas?TomTried your last idea. The daytime CTD was fixed, thanks. February 7, 201214 yr Rick, regarding GHCI: make sure that the FV_HI_FU folder is in your scenery library. When I disable this one it looks like in your screenie.regarding GCLA: I see what you mean. Seems like the developers messed up there. When I taxi from the runway onto the apron, I sink into another ground layer beneath the tarmac. The Canarysim developers made a patch for that, but the project folded and the website is no longer online. Thankfully, Wolfgang Janisch put the patch on his home page: http://www.wojanisch.de/media/files/CanarySim.zipUnzip and put GCLA_FLT2.bgl into your CanarysimProject Canarias 2006Terrain - dataLA_FUSCENERY folder. The airport looks still a little odd when viewed from certain angles but you no longer sink into the ground when on the apron. Regards, Tom
February 8, 201214 yr Ah yes, it was Mauritius. The funny thing is, I only downloaded it and installed it to help you. I have it installed, but it's so far from anywhere I ever fly that I have never really used it, aside from to help you. Once FlyTampa finishes Dubai I might find more use for it. Either way, all the airports Max makes are very well done.FlyTampa is reworking Dubai? For FSX?This is great news!!!Daniel
February 8, 201214 yr Moderator FlyTampa is reworking Dubai? For FSX?This is great news!!!DanielWell, to get to excited. That's just the rumor I have heard, but either George or Martin (always get these two confused on which is working on what) had mentioned that they would probably get around to "re-booting" Dubai at some point. Then there was a pre-advertisement from somewhere that mentioned it as well. Of course until its released we can never be sure since George or Martin dont do a lot of previews, except of course for Athens, but I have a feeling that which ever one of the two of them that isn't working on the Canadian airport is working on Dubai.
