A Rare Flight forum positive post

You know I've been flying around in the beta these last few days before I loose it. For a low and slow flight game the scenery, graphics, performance, ground detail and easter eggs with animations in the game ain't bad. I was thinking today how sucky the default FSX scenery is. Also how many hundreds and hundreds of dollars I would have to spend to get my FSX looking decent, or at least to the default scenery level of Flight.LOOK I think it's stupid they way they are launching it and the way they are selling the little super expensive pieces and how they have turned this into a game from a sim... I think flying with a mouse or keyboard is stupid and those dumb aerochaches or flight rings you have to fly through are for a 5 year old...But it appears the core system here is pretty awesome. The performance is 30+ at maximum for me and my system if 5 years old..The level of detail in the trees, roads, water, airplane, buildings and airports is pretty dang amazing for a core product. I really have enjoyed flying in FlightAlso the missions I have flown are leaps and bounds of what I have flown in FSX. The experience of a the missions are very real life feeling. Will anyone get rid of FSX for many years to come.. NO.. me neither.. but as a secondary experience I think I'm gonna enjoy it and probably purchase some stuff I am interested in. I mean if you compare the x-plane 10 demo and the Flight Beta Flight wins with a knock out.Peace

Long term flight simmer here. I absolutely loved the Beta and can't wait for 29th Feb.

I am with you guys, 2.29.12 can't get here soon enough. I have not seen squat. Can't believe I didn't get into the beta.

And I thought everyone who applied for the beta got accepted. You should have taken my place since I've only used it for 30mn since 2 months!I'm sorry to have wasted one slot but it's not easy to change a "harcore simmer" like me overnight...

Its sad when someone cant say something positive without getting attacked. Lets see how long it is before people pounce. I also had fun in the beta, and plan to have a lot more fun on and after the 29th. I also plan on keeping my FSX folder installed.

Very well said. I cannot agree more. The problem is not what Flight offers now at the day of its release. The problem is how bright shines the future. Devs like PMDG, Orbx, Aerosoft, A2A just to mention some, they are not on the Flight train. That worries me alot. Who can forget the quality of airplanes that PMDG or A2A has given to us! Do you really believe we will get the same detail simulated aircraft from others? I dont believe so but perhaps I am wrong. The big island of Hawaii looks like Orbx made. That said, just pure speculation here, I think Orbx was involved on that project at the early stages but again, perhaps I am wrong here too. Not to mention the airport detail we got from Aerosoft and other devs.Another problem is the SDK. What about it? Will it be open in the future for the devs to build up new simulator according to what the core machine of Flight offers? Rumors, rumors, and again rumors. As you see I wrote some lines here full of question marks but as they say hope dies last.

And you have certainly taken your share of punches. That "other" thread was painful to even read.-ed

I don't know where the attack is on the 3 first posts? Or are you talking about another thread? :(

Its not here yet, but its inevitable. There hasn’t been a kind word said about Flight in this forum that has not been "vigorously debated" and downright bashed into the ground. Some people here cant let people enjoy the way they want to fly. I can understand a lot of people like you not liking Flight, but to attack people who do like it is just not cool. I remember when I posted simply "Its free, give it a try" and I was jumped on instantly. This forum has been very openly HOSTILE towards Flight and anyone who uses it.The thing is, Flight WILL attract new simmers. How should we greet those new simmers? A forum full of negative and un-informed bashing, or greet them warmly? Simming needs new blood to survive. Chasing them away wont help any.

which is why I ask the admin to delete_my_account.Seems if you have 3000+ posts you can say anything you want, and get away with it.Outta here.

Put on one side all of the emotion (quite natural) that has built up on this forum and read the above words again. It is very clear that the OP has been flying the Beta and is very impressed.I do not like the way that MS is marketing FLIGHT. I wish it was whole world with all the bells and whistles but it isn't. But it is a start on what could turn out to be a major improvement on the existing sims. Who knows where the developers will take it if the launch is successful and if it receives support from the community.

I agree with trevorbee. I'm not a fan of what Flight appears to be at this stage, but it's only in Beta, so we don't really know what it's going to be. I hope that it developes into the sim platform we're looking for, so that my system can shred it like every other program out there, except FSX.I must say, I've been sitting out watching the forum wars over the last few days, and I think the pro-Flight crowd has given as good as they've gotten; everybody needs a bit of a chill pill. I'm a bit disappointed that the admins haven't been through and locked some threads that have clearly gotten out of hand, and that the ban-hammer comes out for some of the personal attacks that have been posted.

Looking forward to MS Flight too.You know, it's quite simple. If I had to choose between MS doing nothing with flight simming anymore or MS creating MS Flight, what would I choose...? Right.Obviously it would have been even nicer if MS Flight offered everything that people ever wanted in a sim, but I rather have FSX plus MS Flight then FSX plus nothing.

As I have posted before, even not having been able to test FLIGHT, and as a long time MSFS user, I have been awaitingfor it because I do believe FLIGHT IS GOOD!!!!I also do believe I perfectly know where all of the core bashing comes from, who promotes it, although there are certainlyforum users who feel uncomfortable with this new flight simulation platform, but appart from thinking that it will certainlybring me excellent leisure times (and that is exactly what I should expect from a PC-based flightsim), I do understandand support MS's move. After all, if we want a sound and supported product, they must have the necessary income, notthe many add-on producers who won millions based on their work!Sorry for being so rude!
