Beautiful stuff, wow!! They should do like MS Flight; first make it a decent sim, then stick with a small accurate area then add to it with DLC.

Its a completely different way of world building, and allows effects that are simply not possible right now with any other type of technology. Now lets blow the doors off! There is another Outerra-like technology out there called Viewterra, that is in many ways further along in development. Interface is funky but with the right settings its pretty awesome. They have clouds, animals water weather..... You can have snowstorms with variable depth, rain, fog.....Tell me what ya' think! The demo is here: http://www.viewterra...m/Download.html

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

Very cool! I'll have to download that!

Its much slower than Outerra, so keep it minimized. But a suggestion is to try flying the helicopter through the grand canyon (you can type in any world location) And play around with the time and the weather.Since this and Outerra use the same type of tech, (Outerra is less of a jack of all trades but is much more optimized and polished visually) I think of this as a kind of look forwards at what Outerra weather might look like.s003n.jpg

OK, I found the Sandbox. Have any of you been able to make your Flightsim controllers work for the truck and airplane like a yoke, rudder pedals, etc? Thanks.

Yep, mine Thrustmaster Afterburner is working okay with their cessna, however rudder and throttle axles were visa-versa at starr... And "change view" leverlit isn't working..

My joystick works - plug and play.Be aware! Outerra isn't a flight sim. The Cessna and truck is only included as a rough demo - no working systems etc.

In my eyes Viewterra adds very nice elements like well animated animals and excellent weather phenomena (the desert storm looks gorgeous). But, at least so far, Outerra looks to me much better overall and, as such, is more convincing to my imagination.I must say I currently prefer top notch generic textures than photorealistic coverage. This may change in future when the resolution (and performance at the same time) is so ultra-high that our eyes will receive it like a video film.Until then I am not yet in love with ground phototextures. All in all it shows how much better 3D world, than the one we are used to in the MFS series, people can create.I believe one day we will have an online platform with Outera-like landscapes, Viewterra-like weather phenomena and MFS-like airctraft and aerodromes. And all this will be connnected to a live ATC control coverage (VATSIM-like) plus other levels of simulation including human-controlled airport services, trains, ships and road vehicles.A whole virtual world to dive in. Hopefully there won't be many cases of people having problems with distinguishing it from reality. :(

Exactly what I was getting at. Outerra is the stronger platform in terms of speed, looks and etc, but Viewterra shows what weather might look like on an Outera like platform. Think of how we do snow now. Completely different textures, and its not dynamic at all. Now think of Viewterra. Snow at any depth at the click of a button. Sandstorms, snowstorms, the vehicles leave tracks behind, roads intelligently deform the terrain to stay level.......Even if Outerra is not "it" I cant believe somebody will not run with tech like this at some point. Scenery practically builds itself.I suspect that having the numerical parameters available, you could probably assemble a good approximation of Hawaii (sans buildings) in a day!

Awesome, gorgeous, outstanding! worship.gifI will consider getting cryopreserved and you guys will wake me up when this becomes the custom base of the flightsim world, OK?

Think we'll need to send some e-mails to some visionary game designers. The FS world is sadly too satisfied with the status quo. Imagine if real aviators were like that. We'd still be flying Bleriots and be perfectly content with it ;) Where are the X-1, the SR-71 and the X-15 of Flight Simulators?

Wow! Looks like the new engine for Operation Flashpoint!!! Imagine starting on an aircraft carrier or a bomber base 300 miles away from your target area? What is the size of the demo download?
