Alright, no hard feelings. But MS Flight is a joke compared to FSX for the true simmer. What part of "ease the hardcore simmer", DID the development actually do?No offence, but this was made for teenagers with x box 360 controllers. That was more important than getting simple rudders working.Again, i hope no one is offended by this.My son is having fun with it, along with a controller. If we are lucky, he will use it for a whole week. For the first time in Microsoft flight history, fail is upon us.
Just give it some time and we will see .By the way take a look at the box for FSX there was a Xbox controller there too i think??

You can use any controller for FSX.Doesn't make it bad.The old MS team would have made sure rudders were supported.

download the drivers then plug in (usb)I used the Xbox controller almost 5 years with FSX (until getting a joystick)... worked great. I prefer the joystick now to the Xbox controller but still use as a secondary (tertiary?) input.
No need for drivers with Windows 7 here. I plugged it in and it worked.

In some ways, I agree with this. Flight right now has NO ATC, NO AI, and limited area of flight. IT also does not have jets, choppers, or "big iron". For a hard core simmer, FSX is a clear choice and winner. But Flight still has something FSX does not. FUN! Its a lot of fun for people who enjoy flying just to fly! The FM are really nice, the missions are fun, and the scenery with the frame rate really makes the experience ENJOYABLE. Some simmers see FUN as a sin. O well.

FSX not only had mouse flight as an option, but also used the 360 controller. In fact, the FSX E3 demo they used the 360 controller, and even had a 360 controller on the splash screen. Its use of that spacific controlling device in no way made FSX any less of a sim. Its just an option. I guess thats why some people still like FS2004? None of these pesky options?

The major things that Flight has going for it (for me anyway) are performance, stability and graphics. The pleasure using FSX died for me months ago because I was never actually flying, I just became addicted to tweaking performance and testing settings, and then getting despondent when I got artefacts, corruption or low FPS (which was inevitable in most cases). I think a speak for at least few people on here when I say that with FSX one develops an obsession with trying to get the absolute best graphics you can, and the best performance. It's almost a competition. In a way, Flight almost takes me back to my FS9 days all those years ago, only with much better graphics. It's all about the flying experience, no tweaking required!

Free means free. By "service fees apply" they mean you may have to pay for the broadband/internet connection you use to download it (which I assume you do anyway). By "premium content available" it refers to the additional downloadable content (DLC) that is available for purchase optionally.

Tom - chopped out the middle part of your quote because I just gave up trying to tweak FSX on my old computer. You hit the nail on the head (for me at least) - Flight feels like FS9 with way better graphics. I'm enjoying it, only got to fly a few missions last night before it was time to hit the sack...flew a few Icon flights, and a couple Stearman flights...had fun.Need to mess around a bit more tonight on setup...

Of course the frame rate is going to be great since it's just rendering a few tiny islands surrounded by water...

Flight doesn't interfere with FSX right?
Just as Photoshop won't interfere with Need for speed or WinAmp won't interfere with Cubase, MS Flight won't interfere with FSX.
