March 10, 201214 yr Way back in the early 80's I worked the night shift at a hospital. A co-worker and I installed FS (1,2 or 3,don't quite remember which one), on one of the original IBM PC's with a monochrome monitor. We spent countless hours taking turns flying the Sopwith Camel in crop-duster mode. Sort of remember it as a mini-game where you tried to cover as much of a field as possible with the spray. For some reason the crop dusting is the one thing (along with Miegs Field) that has been lodged permanently into my brain.Think it would be very cool if MS added a challenge/mission like this to Flight. There are enough fields on the islands and the Stearman would be perfect for it.Just a thought.-ed
March 10, 201214 yr Well thought! Great idea!!!!! Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
March 10, 201214 yr Yes indeed, that would be very neat, lot of fun, and could make for a very challenging " challenge".Great idea! Don B
March 11, 201214 yr that is a GREAT idea! Dust down the Dole plantation would be a blast...I'm loving the Stearman, and this would be a great (and I think relatively light programming-wise) challenge for Microsoft to come out with

March 11, 201214 yr How much would you pay for that DLC addition to the Stearman (to add the crop dusting equipment) And what about the "insecticide clouds"... ya gotta have those? Wait, we'll need some bugs to kill as well!Just having some fun! Your idea is a good one!
March 11, 201214 yr Great idea :) Happy Flying, Clem Wu Beta Tester for OZx, Iris Simulations and Shade.
March 11, 201214 yr Yup, that is a cool idea.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
March 11, 201214 yr The Boeing Stearman is my favorite plane in MS Flight. I have never been a slow as you go flyer, always the jets, but I love this plane. This really is a neat idea I would really like it. Guess it's time to go and pretend I am crop dusting the fields. Wonder how low I can.....crash....get :) Please MS Flight team give us some crop dusting with cool effects! March 11, 201214 yr Commercial Member Well, we know one guy on here is getting paint schemes into Flight. I've seen the format for the effect files in Flight and its almost identical to FSX. So, if the parameters were added to the light effect files on the stearman, in theory, when you turn the lights on, you'd see crop dusting effects. :Nerd: Brandon Filer
March 11, 201214 yr I like the idea a lot!! I remember seeing some speculation about Australia being a possible upcoming DLC. I would wonder if they could be able to apply this to some areas down there. It would be cool if we could be able to do the same thing in Kansas if it becomes available in the far off future. As well be able to have weather effects include dust devils. Just some thoughts I remember about driving to and forth from Colorado back to Kansas City. Would be awesome!
March 11, 201214 yr Ed,Seriously, you should send that idea to:[email protected]Hey you never know...Sent the idea to MSFT. Hopefully they will give it some consideration.-ed
March 11, 201214 yr There was a city simulation game, I think it was called Transportation Tycoon, where you had a crop dusting mission where you had to cover a whole field within a certain time limit. Very basic controls, obviously, but trying to get good coverage meant planning your turns carefully. It was fun. If Flight includes this, they should also have some power lines that you have to fly under as real world crop dusters do that often.- Gary Letona
