"Variants do not match" in performance manager...

Featured Replies

When I open the performance manager, I get an error stating "Unknown versions were detected or variants do not match. Do you wish to reset all variants?" I press yes, but the error repeats itself every 7 seconds. When I updated to sp1c, I was using the low resolution textures- and didn't change back to normal when I updated. Any idea how to solve?

Yeah- a reinstall worked. Then after installing a few liveries it gave the same error message. I wonder what it could be. I chose to reset all the variants, but it still won't solve the error.

Yup, reinstalled the NGX, sp1, and then my liveries. Still get the same error- even deleted my fsx root PMDG folder.

Guys, I know you've already done it, but "reinstall" is just a troubleshooter's out. People throw it out here on the forums mostly because it's too difficult to explain trying to fix something in the background, or we don't expect the person to know how to do it.Reinstallation should be your last resort. That said, are you running the manager as an admin, and have you granted your user account Read/Write/Execute control to your entire FSX directory?

Yeah, I've double checked that stuff. I think it has to do with when you install new liveries, they are installed as high def, and so when you initially open the performance manager (even as administrator) it doesn't match what's checked (hi or low res). Unfortunately, selecting "yes" to resetting all the variants doesn't work.

Liveries are not affected by the performance manager - it's VC textures only (and those are the same with every livery). I've never heard of this error before - waiting on an email reply from Matt about it.

Just a note, I don't have any liveries installed at the moment and still get this error.

Thank you

I too am getting this but only with fs2crew. Everytime I click yes fs2crew no longer works and I have to go into its UI and reclick voice controll. Then after that I will get the error messgae again in the perf manager. If I click no fs2crew is fine in the sim.

Found another thread - EDIT: I just figured it out it's not the liveries it's a problem with FSCaptain. FSCaptain inserts a few lines in panel.cfg and I guess this triggers this error. I reverted back to original panel.cfg and no more error. Which resolution of displays are installed if there is no green check mark?

From looking at the displays (have seen them both high and low res) - I would say your displays keep the resolution you had before FSC added a line to the panel cfg. I seem to still have high-res as was set before I tried FSC.
