Can't finish a challenge - "land and stop" - and what else?

Featured Replies

Hello.I'm doing a challenge - one where you need fly through green circles and where volcano aerocache is. As soon as you passed last circle your goal is to come back to airport and "land ans stop on runway 26". Sounds easy, right? But when I did that nothing happened. I'm stayting on that runway, just near the yellow marker, engine's killed, checklist for engine shutdow passed. But misson just don't end. What I'm doing wrong? What else I need to do in order to complete it?Thank you.P.S. I'm a person who never played Flight Simulators before, so maybe my question is pretty stupid, I don't know... But I really will appreciate any help with it, otherwise I'll just give up with this game (maybe for good).

Hi Limehound,Welcome to the forums! There are no dumb questions, the only dumb ones are the ones that don't get asked!I am familiar with that challenge, once you land and slow to less than 20 kts., you should get the screen showing you completed it along with your score! There is no need to shut engine down or go through the checklist. My guess is you missed one of the hoops - pay attention to your HUD, if it shows a green arrow pointing somewhere that is your next hoop to go through , next time if this happens look and see if it is still showing one to go through.Best of luck, and have fun!And don't give up on flight simulators too soon, hang in there , feel free to come here and ask questions - Flight is truly a blast - careful though, flight simulators can get addicting!

Thank you, dburnebut I really doubt that I missed the hoop. As far as I understand mission won't show you message "fly back to airport" and then "land and stop" if you didn't complete previous step.I've googled it, looks like I'm the only one who have this issue...

I had one mission that didn't register my landing. I had to take off, fly back around the pattern, and land again. Then it noticed I'd landed.

Make sure you are landing AFTER the yellow marker, not near or behind it, but after. (further down the runway from the closer end to you)

Unless it is the one where you have to do a touch and go, and then land and stop, then the only other thing I can think of is that you may have missed a hoop to fly through. It would probably help if you give us the actual name of the challenge.Al

Sounds like the Puu Oo Caldera challenge where you land back at Hilo runway 26.As HughesMDflyer4 suggests, the yellow marker is only a guide and you can land on any part of the runway after it.Slow down using the X key and stop. You should then be greeted with the score page.Fred.

I think I may know what you're talking about as well. My guess is the last part where you have to land and stop, you may not have following the intended path, so it didn't register that you landed and stopped. I think I had to re-do the last part of landing and stopping, so I crashed on purpose to reload at the check point and follow the intended landing on the runway path. If that makes sense. But in your case you'll have to re-do all the hoops. Careful on the very last part that you hit the waypoints right on.

I've had a few situations like this, and invariably the culprit was a slightly botched landing. If you first touch ground even a little off the runway or before the threshold, it doesn't count the landing and you'll have to take off again. If you have enough runway, you can just pop back into the air and set down again without going around, but you have to be entirely within the runway for it to count. You can tell you nailed it because it will usually begin playing a music track.Humorously, once you touch the runway and trigger the music, it doesn't matter if you leave the runway after that. One of my landing challenges ended with me halfway down the hill at the end of the runway, but since I'd touched down back on the pavement, it didn't really care. Just don't crash. ;)

Okay, I'm done.Trick was to touch ranway just after that yellow mark.I really appreciate your help, fellows. Thanks!

Congrats Limehound, now get out there and have some serious fun!!May I suggest Stearman Landing Challenge #6?Lol, j/k - stay as far away from that one as long as you can!

Hi don. But even a regular challenge can be frustrating. One of my today's goals was the happy passenger achievement when you bring pax to Kahului. All was fine. Winds a little stiff around 19-29kts but all fine, landed very softly in Kahului thanks to the headwind. Taxied to the parking area, paying close attention to my taxi speeds to not make my pax unhappy the last seconds of the flight. Shut off the engine. And then... the unbelievable happend. You surely noticed how at the end of these missions the cargo/luggage is unloaded and appears next to the aircraft? This happend here as well buy guess what, the maule tipped over to the left wing and remained in that position, right wing tip in the air. Of course pax were irritated instantaneously and I lost my bonus. Still looking for the guy who did the weight and balance :-). Wish I had been fast enough to take a screen shot. But I was honestly too perplexed to see my achievement go down the drain literally in the very last split second of my mission...

Holy cow, now that is just wrong! Funny as all get out, but wrong nonetheless! :LMAO:Sorry you lost your bonus, at least you can get back out there and try again.I hear you on the regular challenges being well, challenging. Man I am still fighting with the RV Landing Challenge #2. I am not even going to try to think about how many attempts I have made on that one. Oh I have the silver - but I am dang determined I am going to get the Gold. In fact the last 3 days when I fire up Flight, I have done nothing else but go in, load that challenge up YET again, and make several more attempts at it. I am not going to let a level 2 challenge get the best of me dangit! But for now, it sure is whipping my hiney!
