March 21, 201214 yr My system is in my footer. It's very high end, and fsx is on a raid-0 3x ssd disk. I have a feeling thats what might be causing my blurries because I can't for the life of me get any settings that won't cause blurries. I'm flying low and slow over PNW. March 21, 201214 yr If you are not using an external frame rate limiter, try limiting your FPS to 30 in game as a starting point - see if this helps. You could also try the "usepools=0" tweak and remove the reject threshold from your Buffer Pools section - some people see a boost to performance depending on system specs etc.You could try editing or completely removing the TEXTUREMAXLOAD in "Display" - 30 seems to be a common value, though I found this didn't have much effect for me.I have still found that, tweak as much as you like, I still get issues with ground detail/texture pop-in on occasions when flying low at over 150 or so over my ORBX scenery. The other thing I found that did seem to have a positive impact specifically with my NA ORBX areas was disabling my US UTX when flying them...An awful lot of .cfg tweaking doesn't do all that much tbh and you may just get the best results just turning down the in-game sliders until things tighten up! Cheers! Iain
March 21, 201214 yr Try changing this:under [GRAPHICS]TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096and under [TERRAIN]LOD_RADIUS=5.500000these both helped me with blurries and my computer is nowhere as good as yours, hope this helps. remember to backup before you change anything. also if you have newer nvidia driver you can limit FPS within nvidiainspector and I found this to be better for me than using the external limiter. Here is the link to setup nvidiainspector, http://forum.avsim.net/topic/324786-nvidia-configuration-guide-inspector-2xxxx-drivers-version-20-explanations-of-all-settings/
March 21, 201214 yr How is your RAID set up, Justin? I think you're onto something suspecting RAID causing your blurries. --No, I would bet that's the cause! Also, you should be using a TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT of 70-80 so: TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=80RAID 0 is a waste of money and effort for an FSX rig. That I'll stand by. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
March 21, 201214 yr Author Raid is handled by the motherboard. Would probably be better with a hardware controller, but I don't have any additional pcie slots available on the mobo. Currently only using RAID because I don't really have any other hard drives to put FSX on. Guess I'll just live with the blurry blues for now. Before I started reading about it, i just thought the textures were supposed to look like that. Then I started pausing and watching the textures slowly clarify to what they really looked like. Are you not having issues on your 1TB HD? Guess I could try the Velociraptor I've got sitting around, but not sure I want to go through the trouble if it doesn't help. I've read blurry textures is an nVidia issue, as well.

My OS is on a SSD, the rest is all on a HDD.As for blurry textures being an Nvidia issue, I'm really not sure who told you that one, either. Also, change your "TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=" like I mentioned earlier. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules

March 22, 201214 yr I have the same blurry issue on my low end PC too.I think it is related by slow CPU or bad state HDD(an enterprise class one, stable, but not fast). It seems like the texture does not have enough time to be loaded. So, I highly suggest you to play with this tweak:FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.5This value controls the time which is used to process fiber, default is 0.33.Decrease this will gain you better fps, but more blurries, increase this will do the contray.Give a shot on this and check if it can get rid of your blurry, good luck!I have the same blurry issue on my low end PC too.I think it is related by slow CPU or bad state HDD(an enterprise class one, stable, but not fast). It seems like the texture does not have enough time to be loaded. So, I highly suggest you to play with this tweak:FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.5This value controls the time which is used to process fiber, default is 0.33.Decrease this will gain you better fps, but more blurries, increase this will do the contray.Give a shot on this and check if it can get rid of your blurry, good luck!
March 22, 201214 yr This will sound weird, but I used to get problems with blurries with every single setting recommended by NickN's guide or Bojote's config tweaker. They recommend relatively low values here:TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=40TextureMaxLoad=12I used:TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=120TextureMaxLoad=90And now I have nowhere near as much blurries as I used to, on a lower spec system though. Still some at higher speeds and flying low. If nothing else works, you might want to give it a go.

In the OP's case, it's a matter of using software RAID. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules

LolYes, it IS a downgrade in overall quality and performance. As to code improvements - not yet - maybe the will come together down the road but P3D is a work in progress and as such, is still a downgrade from a well tuned FSX. In fact, quite a few people get better performance in P3D than they do in FSX. IMO, you have to tune FSX to get close to stock P3D. Whereas in P3D you don't really need to tweak. Not sure what you mean about the quality part. "There is no comaprison" is a little bit silly since, well, P3D IS FSX for the most part. lol I'm guessing you haven't spent much time with P3D.But yes, lets just agree to disagree and drop it here. :( Ark -------------------------- I9 9900K @ 5ghz / 32GB G.Skill (Samsung B) / Aorus Master Mobo / EVGA GTX 2080Ti FTW 3
