1. Just received this update from TFST: I was able to install my download without any issues, but I would urge all others to proceed with extreme caution if you decide to install from this current version of the wrapper!
2. Oh, I got demoted to the ORBX forum. :( Surely a big new release announcement is better off in the general FSX forum, given that more people are likely to see it? There are plenty of other product-specific release posts in the main thread...Please mods? :)
3. So I just received the following alert from the FlightSim store: Woo! Bought and downloading now - looking forward to my first Auckland to Wellington run.
4. I am a RealAir Turbine Duke evangelist and with good reason. IMHO it is to this day the best GA twin ever made for FSX.
5. Indeed, it always amazes me that more twins dont use this system - works brilliantly in the Duke
6. Every time I see this title in the list of active threads, it makes me think of this: (sorry) I am glad you are enjoying Flight!
7. Can anyone confirm - is this going to be available on Flightsimstore.com? ...I have $27 worth of credit burning a hole in my account there and this would be a perfect purchase!
8. I run 2 x GTX 570's in SLi and I can't say I have noticed any difference within FSX between the last 2xx and the current 301.42s...
9. I have posted the question on the REX forums - all we need is the PayPal details from them I guess.
10. Exactly - that is the crux of my concern and something I don't know the answer to at this stage! It looks like the software aspect of the device allows you to create custom gestures and that the basic product interacts with Windows as a touch screen and/or mouse would. Whether that is going to work well with FSX or whether add-on manufacturers are going to need to customise their product, I don't know!
11. I am honestly very surprised they didn't decide to stick something like a $10 upgrade path on it. I would have gladly paid something like that for their efforts as it really is looking like an incredible upgrade for nothing! Indeed, I would happily donate via Paypal or something afterwards...I may ask on their forums. Cheers
12. ??? It is a free update only for those that already own REX2... Much as I appreciate team Rex's efforts and generosity for this comprehensive upgrade and though I would have happily paid an upgrade charge for the product, I will stop short at buying a second full copy of REX to show my appreciation! Cheers
13. Oh I certainly don't disagree that the ultimate interface would always be a physical representation of your flight controls or panel! That said, when you have limited space or funds a $70 add-on which could theoretically allow you to reach out and virtually touch, tweak, slide and twist any VC control instead of having to grab the mouse is something that really appeals to me. I imagine that in tandem with Track IR or EZDOK it could really enhance the experience. ...well here's hoping anyways. If not, I will have an expensive new way of playing Fruit Ninja! As I said above, the only real concern for me would be whether the device can successfully emulate mouse/touch movements as FSX understands them, so it works to a point without any need for additional software or modification to existing add-ons.
14. Yeah - there seems to be absolutely no benefit to using an external limiter in preference to the internal one with P3D...or even in FSX these days! If you have an NVIDIA card, you can apply Word Not Allowed's V-Sync and other tweaks (in place of using the Bojote stuff) to P3D in the same way as you would for FSX in order to get a wonderfully smooth experience.
15. No, the trackpad is just that - a touch-based trackpad that you need to physically touch. The Leap is a gesture-based system - the nearest thing to it would be the MS Kinect, though the Leap doesn't offer any facial, body or audio recognition, it just creates a relatively small area of interface around the box. Hey Howard - there is a decent Engadget write-up here, including a video of the device in action. This and other reports have all been exceedingly positive about the thing. It really does seem to do exactly what it claims! As far as the pre-order was concerned, they don't take any cash now and I reckoned by the time it got to December shipping, there would have been enough coverage to enable me to decide whether or not to cancel the order, so it is fairly low-risk IMHO.
16. Lol - I can see this thread lasting long! If you guys have a personal beef, I doubt there is much to be gained for any of us by airing it on the forums...you might want to take it elsewhere.
17. I hope the duct tape isn't structural... (great shots though! I keep wondering whether to splash out on the A2A when I already have all the Flight Replicas Cubs...)
18. Still not clear whether it can directly interface with existing apps through the same API that a mouse would use, making it work in theory with FSX out of the box, or whether it needs specific tailoring to all/any individual applications... Maybe all that would be needed is FSPUIC? Still, for that money and considering I won't be charged until it ships at the end of the year, I have pre-ordered one! I am sure that regardless of day-1 compatibility with FSX it will be an interesting device in its own right.
19. So finally I have my store credit processed for the P3D SBSL I bought for my ORBX scenery! Seems churlish to complain about such a gesture, but I guess it would have been nice to have had these whilst the 44% sale was on...oh well! So now I have AUS$27.80 to spend @ Flightsimstore. What do you reckon the best thing to buy from the store totalling that amount is? ...or failing that, are there any imminent exciting releases I would be better putting that money towards?
20. As a kiwi-by-proxy now based in Auckland, I am very fond of this repaint: Eminently suited for flying around ORBX NZSI...
21. If you can wait, why not see how PFPX pans out - currently slated for a release late summer...
22. I will be using PFPX when it comes out! For now I use Plan-G for VFR, Topcat for TO and fuel calcs and Aivlasoft EFB to build IFR plans.
23. No harm, no foul, no apology required. :) Cheers FS. Indeed, with FSX + all my add-ons running, I rarely see system RAM usage above about 50% of my 8Gb...
24. Hey Norm, I still don't see any conceivable situation in which thia configuration would be beneficial! Even if you were running 32gb or more of RAM you wouldn't need or use a page file of that size At best this setting will be utterly ignored...at worst I am wondering if it could even have a negative impact - certainly it is a waste of disk space! If you have tests to prove me wrong on this, I would love to see them! Cheers
25. Unless you have manually gone in to your system settings and disabled the page file, Windows will be managing it for you automatically and you don't need to worry about it!
