AirSimmer A320

Featured Replies

My primary concern here is for people who decides that the Airsimmer is not for them, but either forgets or chooses not to refund because of perceived hassles or in the false hope that everything will eventually be patched. It's a similar situation to mail-in rebates where people either forget, gets disqualified or decides not to bother with the rebate process. Most manufacturers and retailers take advantage of that and pocket the free money which is why I believe anyone who buy the Airsimmer should think hard about the refund and possible FSX alternatives every time they play the A320 within the 30 day trial. $40 is a lot of money to some people.
Are you saying that retailers invented a scheme called refundable within certain amount of time to fool people out their money?! Developers expect sane adult people who can set a reminder in their phone calenders or organizers. I f you can't do that, then you shouldn't have a credit card or shouldn't handle money at all.

Actually Rafal, do you mind if I e-mail you a few questions about the ASA320?
Hi, Mate!Of course I don't! Please feel free to PM me whenever you wish.I will be more than happy to help you fly this gem to its limits. :(

For mail-in rebates, studies show about 40% of them will never be redeemed. That results in 2 Billion dollars of extra revenue for retailers and manufacturers every year.Source:http://www.businessw..._4158_db016.htm"Credit this bonanza for retailers and suppliers partly to human nature. Many consumers are just too lazy, forgetful, or busy to apply for rebates: Call it a tax on the disorganized. Others think the 50 cents, $50 -- or even $200 -- is just not worth the hassle of collecting."The percentage will probably be lower for electronic refunds but there are many people who works full time and have little time left for simming. It may be easy for them to forget about it or not bother until it's too late.

I think though that in the mind of the purchaser there's a significant difference between a relatively small (percentage) rebate on a product one is quite happy with and a complete refund for something with which they're totally dissatisfied. In addition, a flightsim addon aircraft is a targeted, purposeful niche within a niche purchase, the kind of purchase that stays at the relative forefront of a gamer's mind for at least the trial month. Many of your quite reasonable arguments were the same issues I raised years ago in Airsimmer's own forum. After all this time there is no point re-litigating - it is what it is. End of the day it comes down to whether or not a purchaser believes they've gotten their money's worth of product now, in it's current state. For me the enjoyment is rapidly outpacing the negatives with each flight, just like every other addon aircraft I have with their individual faults and limitations.

Mark

I am not %100 sure, but I think I am on the verge of having an airsimmer CTDs free. I am still experimenting and I will let you know when I am sure.

You're right, can't argue with that.

I'm technically CTD free as well, but you have to be careful when adding/changing STARs and manually editing the route because it may freeze FS9. My biggest worry is about the autopilot because it seemed to have a 'suicidal' mind of its own.

I know about the editing. I started doing this, I enter the SID and route then the landing runway or STAR and do any modification before inserting the plan. I never delete any way points after insertion. You are better off creating a new plan. But last night I was hit with a new CTD, TCAS.dll. I just learned that turning on TCAS could cause CTDs. I was 1000 AGL on a perfect approach and there was an AI plane flying half a mile behind me :( . So, from now on I wont turn it on, the plane is worth it.I have no major problems with the AP. By the way, you can use time acceleration up to 4x.

nam1394,

I just learned that turning on TCAS could cause CTDs
I always fly with TCAS on (TA/RA) and in my 100+ AirSimmer flights I have never had a crash due to this module. As far as I remember from different posts I have read over the years, this module happens to cause crashes with various planes (including PMDG).So I don't think AirSimmer itself is the culprit.
I have no major problems with the AP
Neither do I. Works like a charm.I had some in the beginning but they were there due to my wrong load and also problems with my hardware controllers. With the available tweaks, which are now also part of the 1.4 update, I have yet seen no AP anomalies.Maybe sometimes there seems to be a slight 'turn hesitation' while taking another waypoint, but it's not a big issue for me.The sharp turns which used to happen in previous versions seem to have been smoothed now.We must also remember this bird reacts to weather conditions like no other addon (we want it, don't we).So we need to take it into consideration when judging the plane's behaviour. It may be smoothed (or even disabled) via FSUIPC/AS if wished.

I guess TCAS.dll crash happened with all aircraft I have been flying with. Once I was on final at CDG with my md 11, then suddenly there was this AI plane in front of me out of the blue, I wasn't in a good mood to Go Around, so I turned off the AI level to zero, and back to 95%, the intercepting AI was gone, so was my 2.5 hour flight. I never had such ctd ever since. However, by entering the Sid and Star and never editing flight plan during airborne, do they mean we have to insert all the waypoints/vor manually? I do not have the latest Airac, will it cause problems?

I am sorry, It wasn't TCAS.dll. It was GAUGESAirsimmer_LTCAS_L.GAU.I onlu had tcas.dll crashes with PMDG only not other planes.

I thought the AS TCAS was giving me ctds at first but I've since turned it back on every fllght without issue so far. I guess it was something else after all. AP is ok for me with the available updates. On another note I've never experienced a TCAS.dll ctd with my PMDG or other aircraft.Don't you just love hi end sim aircraft, when all else is well they force you to fly right. My iFly is safely hangared for now, a joy to fly but make dang sure you're trimmed after t/o before trying to engage AP. Airsimmer on the other hand, 'Otto' just takes over and autotrim smoothly takes over. Both of them apparently just like their real world counterparts :(

This bird is getting hot in this forum recently :biggrin:Besides time acceleration up to 4x,does it have panel save status?

Good for you that you have a bug free experience. Do you ever play the IAE version because I do, it's an integral part of the package and it's broken.
Can someone explain more to me about this (quoted from Ian) ? Since with the A320 I fly mostly IAE.

It is not recommended to fly the IAE engine version of the bus as there are some system faults which may spoil your fun. As long as you stick to CFM, that should be fine.Luckily for me all the liveries I need are CFM except for Wizz Air but a good German forum friend repainted its engines for me into CFM ones. :(

The IAE FADEC doesnt handle the A/THR very well, I've only flown it twice and found selecting N1 mode made it more stable, that mode should only be used with A/THR off so it's not a solution to the problem.I plan to take a look at it when I am back home in a few weeks, focus has been entirely on the CFM prior to my trip abroad. Ok.. i ll add my 2cent to FS9 vs FSX... A month or so i changed to FSX i got the NGX and i enjoy it a lot. BUT i do miss the Airsimmer A320. I had the ET version and it was a nice aircraft to fly and i was one of the few that didn't experience CTD only i think a few times with inserting SID/STAR but i learned it and it was a sweet aircraft to fly loved it a lot! I wish it was available for FSX.
