March 28, 201214 yr Hey guys,During this stressful week at school I promised myself that I would fly a WestJet "football" (-600) from YUL-YYZ then YYZ-YUL and back and fourth to get my NGX skills up and to help me survive this week. Anyways all has gone perfectly until today. I booted up my machine, set up my flight the usual way which is: -Load my plan through FSX, load the NGX then start RC4 and program my flight into that -Change the NGX panel to "Long Turn" -Follow FlyAOA's flows to assist me and my knowledge of setting up this beast for flight.I've followed their flows exactly as they are saved onto my tablet and I've successfully finished this flight more than 10 times already :)Anyways today I encountered a problem, while loading the IRS when it initialized, only the left PFD's were funcitoning. So I turned off the IRS, reset it and then only the left side functioned. I restarted my computer in hopes of fixing the problem and it unfortunately hasn't.I'm so technologically stupid when it comes to computers so I haven't done anything besides restart my machine. I am running SP1c. Any insight to this problem? Your help is much appreciated everyone!By the way, failures are turned off... Cameron Caldwell CPL (A) King Air 200 Pilot
March 28, 201214 yr Is there anything out of the ordinary in the NAVIGATION part of the Overhead panel?
March 28, 201214 yr Did you allow sufficient time for both left and right side IRS systems to align, both are unlikely to align together. That would lead to the situation you describe, assuming of course that the overhead is setup to a normal configuration.
March 28, 201214 yr So is this your first time starting the IRS alignment? Yours trulyBoaz FraizerCopenhagen, Denmark
March 28, 201214 yr The procedure is:Switch both IRS to NAV position (not to ATT)Go to the FMC and wait few seconds to see the empty boxes. Now, put the position, use the last position if the aircraft was not moved, use GPS position, or manually enter it from a map if aircraft was moved.Do not move the plane until align is complete. If you need to put an IRS off, wait untill lights off, then you can cycle on again. March 28, 201214 yr Author I'll double check the overhead panel. So is this your first time starting the IRS alignment?Definitely not :( I've done this before just this is out of the ordinary...I'll report back in a few minutes - maybe 20 or so. Adequate time is given for both IRSs to boot up. Cameron Caldwell CPL (A) King Air 200 Pilot
March 28, 201214 yr Author Everything worked fine. For some reason this was just a temporary problem. That was the nicest approach I've ever done...until the stupid thing froze on the 6 mile marker. Ugh. This system never freezes. I'm ######. Cameron Caldwell CPL (A) King Air 200 Pilot
