I just hope that PMDG aircraft will work in P3D 2.0

So what if he did???Isn't it Alain's business if he changes his mind about his 'fiscal support' for OrbX products? He's only complying with human nature, as is JV. It's JV's prerogative if he also has a change of heart, and I'm personally glad that he has, as this has popped me back into the position where I now will probably buy P3D this week, and maybe pick up one or two of the sale items, too.
Because it personally raises an eyebrow. I have an affinity for Nissans and Audi's. Never much enjoyed a Ford or BMW. I have no intention of purchasing a Ford or BMW so naturally I care not about their products and companies. I don't hang out on their forums, around the dealership, or ask about their sales policies in two years and raise new concerns whenever old ones are answered.Wouldn't it be odd for me to enjoy Nissans and Audi's but only ever talk about the inadequacies of Fords and BMW's?

Mmm, thought this was an hobbyist forum. Seems to be turning into a psychology analysis therapy retreat..... :(

What does that have to do with the price of tea in China??Don't care about the NDA, what I want to know is if we will have to pay to have our already paid for Orbx scenery upgraded to DX11, will it be a free patch or will we have to buy new DX11 scenery?
I think it would safe to say that we wont have to pay for the update if one is needed, i don't think any flight sim developer charges for product updates. I don't work for orbx so this is just my opinion.

Many people think DX11 will be a problem in the future with current addons. Well, you can always use DX9 in P3D V2, and maintain the previous compatibility. Although DX9 is worse than DX11, will take all the benefits of the new rendering engine, with better framerates and other improved graphics effects.I am sure DX9 will be an excellent option in P3D V2. In the future, probably most addons will be DX11 compatible, meanwhile DX9 will be the safe option.Don't care now about DX11. Currently, the most important issue is to get support from the developers in DX9 mode, at very reasonable prices for previous consumers, and to develop a very stable and efficient platform without important bugs and stability issues.DX11 should be now a secundary problem. Do you think DX11 will work without problems in its initial release? It will need several patches until it works correctly.Enjoy your Orbx sceneries and don't think DX11 is a problem for your addons. It will be an alternative for very demanding people, with very capable hardware.

So what you are saying is....if you have FSX / Prepar3D (Nissan and Audi) why bother with XP-10 (Ford or BMW) or any other sim. for that matter since you'r a FSX guy....right?Does that make sense to you? If Ford or BMW come up with a better product you can't ask questions about their products right, you just buy it without asking any questions what so ever about the product?Well guess what, before I use (if I do) Prepar3D I will ask all the questions I think are relevant to the product and my wallet before it's to late, I can't ask these question on Orbx's forum as I (with severals other ex members) am banned from it, can somebody ask these questions on Orbx's forum for me?Dumpcore made a good point about DX9 but DX11 is a lot better perf. wise (as Dx10 is with FSX) so if it's available with Prepar3D down the road I want to know how much it will cost to have our paid scenery patched up for it IF indeed we have to pay for that or will we have to buy (again) the same area DX11 compatible? Now, I looked at this here, (this is NOT about the EULA) ... http://www.prepar3d....nse-comparison/ and I don't see where I fit in their license comparaison since I am a personal/consumer entertainment product user unless LM change their policy, I know, I know "They won't look inside my computer or knock at my door to see who I am if I buy a Prepar3D license.".....soooo.... is that suppose to make me feel better??

Hi Alain,Here is something for you to think about with regards to P3D and FSX,While P3D wont be for every one and i can understand your questions about future costs that may be involved by using a commercial sim,If FSX works for you and works well is it worth swapping over, Looking at your pc specs you have a great system for running fsx, if you brought P3D what will you expect from it as some people have brought it thinking they will get a massive performance gain over fsx when that is not always the case.I decided to buy P3D as fsx is a problem for my pc, fsx is not smooth for me unless i frame lock, performance of the sim keeps dropping over time and the blurry ground textures annoy me a lot when im flying heavy iron. In P3D i have not had any of those issues. P3D as a sim is not perfect and there is issues with it and there is missing features that are in fsx but i can live with out them or use an addon to replace what is missing.I was going to wait for P3D v2 before i looked at it again but the licence options suited me and i was happy to spend $49 on it as ive spent more than that on fsx addons i will never use.Our hobby is not a cheap one but it is a fun one :)Paul

Hey Alain: in our country those who buy Holden (GM) despise all owners of the Ford Falcon. But I don't see this analogy at all.Development and support for FSX finished when ACES was sacked. How long ago? It was people like Nick Needham and ******* Bojote and many others alongside rapid increases in hardware speeds and efficiency that have made FSX so durable. But without the expertise of so many people, and hardware development then FSX would have been long removed from the shelves. PMDG, iFly and Orbx just to name a few worked out how to improve add-ons by having as much as possible run outside the game itself. These have been fantastic. Now we have LM with the same ESP/FSX improving on it - and initially adding some bugs of their own, but they have issued three patches already and say these will continue up until v2 is released. Nick Needham always said that smooth was the objective in a flight simulator, and I fully agree. Counting frames is for the paranoid or the macho. For me P3D 1.3 is giving that to me, so I have moved over completely now to FSX on vitamins. The steroids are yet to come.

KInd regards,

Ian McPhail

Why is NickN's opinion as a developer any more valuable than say Orbx, FSUIPC, Aerosoft, FSDT, REX etc who are all behind supporting P3D?

ZipTWS suspended for 30 days after being previously warned. Anyone else?

Not locked yet..!

I´ve read Nick´s comment and I fully agree.

Can´t "bend" myself into a valid license, trying hard though

AliB also suspended for 30 days after being previously warned not to discuss the EULA

Who's next?

The point I'm making here is NOT about the EULA or what can a developer or LM do with Prepar3D, my point is to the fact that according to Prepar3D OWN LICENSE COMPARAISON CHART I can't see where I fit in it and this is a part of what Nick is explaining in the thread I posted.

I will say this.

Under the purchase options available, I have no problems classifying myself. I will let you judge which option that may be based on my profile.....

Does that mean I can't use the academic license because I am enjoying myself? If I didnt have a developer subscription I think it would be OK.

Another sim I use is frequently referred to as a 'study sim'. I have fun with it too but I am learning a lot.

Gentlemen, here is an unofficial warning. Stop.

Armchair and wannabe lawyers pay attention to what follows...

There comes a time when speculation, rumors, innuendo and allegations do harm. Wannabe lawyers who have endlessly dragged the subject of the EULA provided by MS to Lockheed through every perturbation of "expert" opinion, can congratulate themselves. You have succeeded in putting people, careers and products at risk.

I have been contacted by sources that do know the facts, and the consequences of the BS occurring in these forums. It is time to cease and desist.

I am asking all the MODS here to be alert to any further discussion of the so called EULA and shut down the topic immediately. Continued posting of any aspect or proximity to the subject of the EULA will result in the removal of posting privileges here.

So, folks, it is time to bring the damaging speculation to an end.

Alain - you have a pm.
