April 1, 201214 yr hey guys,I'm planning on buying a new system when I come back to Germany in summer. I will run it parallel to my than nearly 3-year-old Sony VAIO FW41J.It took me some time to find good parts for an acceptable price and here they are:MB: Asus P8Z68-V LXCPU: Intel Core i5 2500K (4x3.30 GHz)RAM: G.Skill RipjawsX 8GB (2x4GB, DDR3-1600)GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX570 HD Superclocked (1.2GB)SSD: Corsair Force 3 Series 2.5" (60GB, Win7)HDD: Seagater Barracuda ST1000DM003 (1TB, 7200rpm)CPU-Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H40 (watercooling)Power: MS-Tech MS-N750VAL-CM (750W)Case: Fractal Design R3 Midi Tower blackMonitor: LG E2441V-BN LED (FullHD)the price is gonna be about 1.200€ (~1550$).With the watercooling device I gonna be able to overclock the CPU a little...Maybe some of you have some similar parts like mine and could tell me a little about it and how it works together with FSX!? Do you like my system like it is now? Please, feel free to tell me your opinion!!Greetings Carl-Johann Winkler, DWaviationSystem Specs: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 | Intel Core i5 3570K 4x4.2GHz | MSI GTX970 Gaming 4G | Corsair XMS3 2x4GB RAM | Samsung 850EVO 120GB & 250GB SSD | Seagater Barracuda 1TB & 3TB | ASUS VS248H FullHD | Noctua NH-D14 CPU-Cooler
April 2, 201214 yr You could save a little money by using a gtx560ti instead of the 570. Fsx shouldn't be able to tell the difference Kenneth Weir My Saitek yoke mod i7 2600k @ 4.7 8GB Gskill CAS7 2x GTX580 SLI Surround + GT520 Accessory Win7x64
April 2, 201214 yr Author I already thought about that. I know the grafics card doesn't effect the performance of FSX a lot, but since I also want to play some other games I decided to go with the GTX570!Anyway, thanks for the reply!I just changed my mind about my CPU cooler: I gonna go with the next step in the Corsair H-Serie, the H60, only 5 bucks more, but a bit more of cooling performance! April 2, 201214 yr for the system I bought it came out to just a tad bit over $1400 I think thats a bit cheaper than the one your looking at but with better performance not sure how much $1400 is in the currency you speak of look at my signature for my specsMike Michael L Garza Specs: i7 2600K @4.6GHZ P8Z68-V PRO GEN3 (Bios 3203) PNY GTX 560ti (Driver 301.24) Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) AX Corsair 850W Corsair H100 Corsair 800T Windows 7 Ultimate 64

I included a SSD for my OS and a 24" FullHD Display. However, you might had luck with the time you bought your system. Unfortunately prices change every day -.- . 1 € = 1.31 $I'd get a bigger SSD. I filled up my 120gb fast and bought a 250the SSD is only for the Operating System (Windows 7 64Bit). I gonna ad another 128GB SSD in some months, only for FSX ;) Carl-Johann Winkler, DWaviationSystem Specs: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 | Intel Core i5 3570K 4x4.2GHz | MSI GTX970 Gaming 4G | Corsair XMS3 2x4GB RAM | Samsung 850EVO 120GB & 250GB SSD | Seagater Barracuda 1TB & 3TB | ASUS VS248H FullHD | Noctua NH-D14 CPU-Cooler
April 2, 201214 yr the SSD is only for the Operating System (Windows 7 64Bit). I gonna ad another 128GB SSD in some months, only for FSX ;)60 GB SSD is too small. It's effective use is 48 GB (since you really should only fill an SSD to 80% capacity). After you put the OS and all the updates, you'll be bumping up on the upper limit in no time. I would recommend starting with a 125 GB AND a 250 GB SSD. Put your OS and other stuff on the 125, and FSX and all the sceneries, etc. on the 250. You'll be glad you did. But I might think about the size for my FSX SSD later ... April 2, 201214 yr Author I was wondering, how far I can overclock my i5 2500K with the Corsair Hydro Series H60 and still have a very stable system?Does anybody know an alternative fan to the standart corsair fan which comes with the H60, since it seems to be very noisy. I need a 120mm fan with an airflow more than 75 CFM and a noise level at about 20dB !? anybody knows such a fan ?? ... April 2, 201214 yr Okay, Windows only on the 60. So, you're going to put everything else AND FSX on the 125? Ain't gonna work. 2 people have recommended 60 GB is too small. Suit yourself. One ORBX scenery is 6 GB. Good Luck Dennis Trawick Screen Shot Forum Rules
April 2, 201214 yr Author no, you probably didn't see my 1TB Seagater Barracuda. There I will have all my programs (at the beginning including FSX, until I get the 2nd SSD) and all my files. April 2, 201214 yr If you want solid oc with 2500k I would choose Noctua dh14 (air cooler) not hydro series (except corsair h100) M.Evren GOKASAR
April 2, 201214 yr Is there any advantage in having FSX on a separate SSD if the OS is also on an SSD? As data transfer is effectively instantaneous from an SSD I would have thought that having FSX and the OS on the same SSD (which is what I intend to do for my next upgrade) would make little difference in practice. Am I missing something? Michael Turner
April 2, 201214 yr Author If you want solid oc with 2500k I would choose Noctua dh14 (air cooler) not hydro series (except corsair h100) From what I read, my case seems to be too small for this cooler. On the other side I really want to stay with a/this watercooling device and want to know how far I can go with this on my 2500K. I don't even want to go too high so I will have this CPU for a long time ;). Is there any advantage in having FSX on a separate SSD if the OS is also on an SSD? As data transfer is effectively instantaneous from an SSD I would have thought that having FSX and the OS on the same SSD (which is what I intend to do for my next upgrade) would make little difference in practice. Am I missing something? I think, either way is fine. It was kind of important on HDDs, since they had far lower transfer speeds. I decided to finally have two SDDs, so I can easily reset my OS or install a different one, without the need to reinstall FSX or other programs I might have had on the same SSD. April 2, 201214 yr I believe your system set up looks great. The OS on 60 GB SSD is not perfect, but should work. As per Windows 7 on 64 bit takes 20 GB, UPDATES are a lot, printers, and other programs (word, excel, etc...). As for the 1 TB for FSX.....to much, so make sure you defrag your hard drive on the 1TB. Its not the size that matters, so down size to maybe 200-300 GB and bump the RPM 15,000 http://www.tigerdire...3099&CatId=2345, but if your spending that money on hard drive, may want to down size the RPM 10,000 or get another SSD.
