April 3, 201214 yr Gals/Guys: Just read it over at the beta site: (and got the go ahead to post it here) TrackIR will be supported But if you are listening, why haven’t you made any changes? <snip> One change that’s in process is that – although at this time we have nothing to announce – due to the consistent and numerous requests for TrackIR, we’re actively working on putting it in a future update. You can post it, although I want to be clear: when I said "we have nothing to announce at this time," it means we're not officially announcing TrackIR as a future feature because we're not committing to a date, etc. We're working on it, but no promises as to when you'll see it. :-) Don't know when, but I'm very happy. April 3, 201214 yr great news, thanks! Yes, patience. We don't want to have trackir but a 50% loss of frames performance! Simmo W, Melbourne, Ozhttp://www.youtube.com/user/id5556
April 3, 201214 yr Don't know when, but I'm very happy. Don: Was that fast enough? Now, Patience........... (Patience is a virtue) Suweeeet!! Yes indeed, and that does sound promising - at least now I know they have it " on the table". The sooner the better - but I am very patient and can wait no problem. Thanks! Don B

April 3, 201214 yr Outstanding! Since I got my TrackIR, I've been flying exclusively in FSX, so I'm VERY excited to be able to get back into Flight. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long! WildBill
April 3, 201214 yr Wow, thank you for passing that on, lack of TrackIR has been my personal pet peeve with Flight keeping me from fulling enjoying it, great to hear them announce that they are working on it, that makes such a big difference knowing they heard us and acknowledge it and hopefully it will be coming someday... Now I know that any further DLC I buy will not be wasted from not being able to fully enjoy it. --John near KPAE
April 3, 201214 yr Commercial Member Hummmmm. Alaska, and TrackIR.... Looks like spring will cost me some money... My Tir4 died, so I need to get a new Tir5. If they release a few good "DELUX" aircraft, im going to be searching the coutch for money... Kevin Miller 3D Artist and developer
April 3, 201214 yr I'm confused about how TrackIR works. At first I thought is was the VR thing with small screens infront of your eyes appearing to be much larger and farther away, and the view would switch as you moved your head. But now I understand it simply tracks where you are looking. So in order to get the proper experience, do you then need a multimonitor setup with side views and maybe up and down? I cant see turning my head to the right, but then having to shift my eyes too look left to see the screen infront of me. I dont understand how turning your head to look around works when you only have one screen infront of you.

No need multimonitor, you can build your headtracking, if you already have a webcam, with zero cost. http://www.free-track.net Initially you'll find it difficult, then you'll not fly without it. I hope they will also support freetrack and facetracknoir, otherwise will be a shame
April 3, 201214 yr It sounds weird, but is very intuitive and effective. No you don't need to look way to the left or right! You control its sensitivity, so a slight turn equates to a smooth move to right/left. Don't sneeze. Simmo W, Melbourne, Ozhttp://www.youtube.com/user/id5556
April 3, 201214 yr Commercial Member TrackIR just tracks your head movements (via a camera, and lights you were on your headset or hat) and translates it into the sim. If you look left, your camera looks left. Its that simple! The thing is, you dont need to look 90 degrees left to look 90 degrees left in the sim. You only need to move your head a little. Not only does it track the direction you look, but also were you move your head. You know those switches at the bottom of the dash thats hard to see? Just duck your head a little, and your camera moves down! Want to look around the side of the Stearman? Just move your head left! The TrackIR unit is a big expensive. Its like 170$, but if you like flying, its WELL worth it since it puts you into the cockpit! It really makes you feel like your in the cockpit when you can just look around via your head! There are alternitives, but none work as well as TrackIR. I use FaceTrackNoIR in FSX, but it has lag. At least I dont need to wear a light show on my head! Kevin Miller 3D Artist and developer
April 3, 201214 yr And one day, hopefully Kinect will come into play, and you can lift your right arm up and pull down the landing gear lever. One can dream... For the IR gadgets, you need to make sure you don't have the sun/bright light behind your desk, that drove me batty in the early days, jittery movements for some unexplained reason, when it was just the sun shining behind me. This video is pretty well my Nirvana for trackir, combining a head mounted display. In a few yrs we'll all be using them, hopefuly a little less clunky, 4k resolution and a 100 degree or more field of view: Simmo W, Melbourne, Ozhttp://www.youtube.com/user/id5556

April 3, 201214 yr "due to the consistent and numerous requests for TrackIR," So all those mails and comments on their blog were worth it. They deserve credit for this, and it's good to know that if enough of us request things consistently they will be considered. So what's next on the wish list... i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea
