April 12, 201214 yr I had the hydraulics go out on the J-31 Jetstream this afternoon and had to land without flaps and with dodgy brakes, and there was a thunderstorm rolling in as well LOL, that was certainly entertaining, got a screenie of it too, god bless beta mode eh? I didn't know the Jetstream 31 came with a failure module. Sounds interesting. I dream that someone will release a fully featured Pilatus PC-12, either with the new full digital displays or the original design. The Flight1 is showing its age and has little system modeling. Count me in. A new PC-12 would be very nice. I still like the old one, but, maybe same as you, the new variant and sim techs would improve the immersion for sure.

April 13, 201214 yr Air Hauler and MCE, but that aside, the J31 does have all the systems modeled, it is very in depth on that score. VC is not wonderfully pretty but it is functional. The RXP 530 slots right in there though if you want it to, as does some ISG stuff. Not really a GA aeroplane though. Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

Virtualcol or something right? Lee
April 13, 201214 yr Does that Uiver DC-2 count as GA by the way? I just flew some Australian tours with her and the systems are nice, though no maintenance or something. But you get flooded carbs, have to use the fuel pumps when switching tanks and so on. Lovely plane and it supports the folks from the museum. I had her running in Antarctica X too. Robust plane that is.
April 13, 201214 yr Agreed, of course they're not. But not all are privileged to have flown a single nautical mile in real life. And the simulation of any aspect of aviation is subjective. Simulating a 'APU Master ON' procedure from a SOP manual, by reaching up into thin air, flicking an imaginary switch and calling "APU Master Switch ON" is a simulation if it serves to draw a parallel to the real activity. If the simulation of maintenance actions on a small GA aircraft provides people who have not the ability or desire to experience the real thing a semblance of (virtual) reality, then those maintenance aspects are relevant to a flight sim product. Now, simulating getting up at 03:30 to get to Heathrow to take on a red eye flight, that's something I don't wanna do! ..... but joking apart, some people get enjoyment from sitting in front of a long-hauler for 10+ hours. There are so many different interpretations of this fascinating hobby. For me, simulation is about getting as close to the real deal as possible, so I place great importance on the overall feeling of immersion. All the things you stated are good points about the increased immersion level brought about by systems and wear simulation. Shane Gavin
April 13, 201214 yr . Excellent point. April 13, 201214 yr Excellent point. I couldn't agree more! Lol, my phone makes it show the last post on the first page, not the last post on the last page like other forums. Hence I replied to something from days ago thinking it would appear below that post, but it didnt haha and wouldn't make sense anymore ;) so I delete

Unless you're a professional pilot and you let maintenance worry about all that.
April 13, 201214 yr Author Unless you're a professional pilot and you let maintenance worry about all that. And this is what those addons do. You are just told of what was wrong on your plane, so you can guess what you did wrong during your flight. I don't think any of them acts as a full maintenance simulator. :) Mateusz Kapusta
