My Own SP2 Wish List

Featured Replies

I've seen some 'SP2 wish lists' popping up and decided to add my own!

1.) Fixed Engine Lower DU Display. The engine indications on the Lower DU are, in real life, lined up to the ones on the upper DU. The NGX, for some reason, doesn't have this simulated. It's hardly noticeable, but would add just a tad more realism.

2.) I know the NGX has reached FSX's hard coded limit for animations, but if more were available, I would *kindly* ask PMDG to implement opening side windows in the VC and, if at all possible in any way, some rain and snow effects. Would add some major realism.

3.) FMC Maintenance Pages and asociated tests (such as the DU optical test, the one that is most entertaining :D). I know pilots aren't supposed to access these pages, only maintenance workers, but it would add some real...uh...realism to ground testing. I used to have the Ifly 737NGX before PMDG's was out, and they had implemented these tests.

4.) Weather Radar. I know that this is a nearly impossible feat to realistically simulate due to the fact that, at least the ones of today in FSX, only see clouds and not precipitation, but if somehow it was made realistically, I would very much like to see it.

5.) Honeywell RAAS. I've seen a recent topic on it and seen it in action myself on some 737's, and it would be an amazingly realistic experience to have it, though I know it's probably an impossible feat off FSX engineering

6.) EFB (electronic flight bag). I've seen this only on some newer models, but it would be great to have, even as a seperate PMDG development (such as an expansion) and especially in the T7 in development.

That's all I can think of for right now, otherwise it's got everything I could ever want! Again a huge thanks to PMDG for this fantastic feat of FSX design.

The EFB probably will be available sooner than later. They are building it into their newer aircraft and claim that once tested it can easily be retrofitted to the 737

Where did they announced that they will release EFB in the 777?

1) should be possible

2) i highly doubt it. This would mean removing some other animations. I don't mind if it's something really hidden like the equipment hatch, but still, what would it add to realism?

3)you said it, those functions are useless to pilots. It's also forbidden to them to go there

4) as said many times, it's impossible to make a giid wx radar in fsx. The only thing i can think about is a radar that reads actual weather from external programs like active sky

5) i don't know

6) efb may be possible, but what about all the charts???

I'd add to the list the possibility to create custom waypoints via the FMC NAV page.

About 3)

The maintenance function is highly complex and goes in depth oof a lot of systems, I doubt that iFly did a lot of them, probably just few (I don't have it, ngx is sufficient alone) If a failure is correctly simulated it could be troubleshot in the MAINT section, but, to simulate it, there are a lot of variables that PMDG alone cannot simulate. At least not for free I think, and not completely.

As far as I know, PMDG adds things that works, not just fictional ones, so, if they want to add a test, it must TEST the system, not only play a voice or put symbols on the display.

There are yet a lot of not right things on the simulated failures, mostly linked to fsx limits, a bite test on a wrongly simulated failed item is something that is useless.

I think that a most important thing could be simulated (also this time it is something really complex), I'm speaking about circuit breakers (at least the ones linkled to the simulated failures). It is something that pilots are able to use, that pilots MUST use when required, are a way to "reset" some troubles.

But, I don't think we can have them.

When did I post that they will release EFB in 777?

I said "newer aircraft" and this was said at Aerosoft Convention. by PMDG CEO in Munich in late March.

1. Is pretty insignificant.

2. Will never happen, PMDG"s made that very clear.

3.We're pilots, not mechanics

4.Also never gonna happen, but I wouldn't mind an SDK hook for if HiFi wanted to do it.

5. Cool, and definitely possible, since we've already got EGPWS.

6.I think they're planning it for the next few years.

My wish list is for folks to stop making wish lists !

PMDG will make a weather radar before that happens (;

Agreed

There is an art . . . to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss

Well, regarding the EFB

Only a few airlines actually have one installed in their NGs and I doubt that more airlines will check the EFB checkbox on their 737NG Orderlists.

Sure, the EFB is a great feature and I'd love to use it and work with it, at least in the sim.

I'll just squeeze my wishlist in for SP2 as everyone is starting to do it.

So.. Let's begin with the simple things:

-Gear pins modelled in the VC so we can check them being present when we go through the checklist on the ground.

-The emergency escape rope animated so we can pull it out just in case there's fire or a hijacker on the ground.

-Actual fire in the cabin so we can make use of the rope.

-A cabin so we can see the fire properly.

-Animated windows so we can actually climb out.

-The exterior to be seen when we're in the VC climbing out of the cockpit.

Last but not least: -A gun so we can shoot ourselves when we see another wishlist topic. :P

No offense to the wishlist guys. :P

Three greens!

With the new emergency NGX out by fs2crew, escape slides wouldn't be a bad idea?

Not impossible, it's already available!

Look here http://www.fs2crew.com/cart/products/FS2Crew%3A-RAAS-Professional.html/

There are videos on youtube of it in action also.
