April 6, 201214 yr Hi FO says we're not configured for engine start. This is my problem and I was wondering if anyone could help please. I looked thru the other posts and from what I have seen, I have tried the following... 1) Reinstall SP1c 2) Reinstall FS2Crew 3) Ensure NGX in PMDG cold and dark state 4) I can alos confirm I followed the instructions when I purchased the softare about reinstalling sp1c etc etc. I have been starting from cold and dark and letting the FO do everything including RUN Pre Flight events. I have also followed the guide / tutorial to the letter. Also when it says "we're not configured for engine start" If I manually start the engine then it works ok. So far I have tried using FS2Crew 6 times and each time when I get to start the engines then "FO says we're not configured for engine start". and now it is getting annoying!!! I have only got it to work once on the 4 th time I use the software and that was after a reinstall of SP1c and FS2Crew. Then on the 5th and 6th time it again says " we're not configured for engine start" and I am doing the same for each of the 6 flights. So any ideas please? And although reinstall sp1c fixed it once it is not really a fix for me to keep reinstalling as I lose all my liveries, configurations and it just plain time consuming to keep doing it so I hope that is not a suggestion. Thanks Keithy George
April 7, 201214 yr Commercial Member Is FSX setup so it loads aircraft by "default" into the 2D cockpit? Make sure you have this setting checked: Also, do not "Reset" the Flight. Also, ensure the "Trike" is visible in the Free Flight window before loading the NGX. Never load the NGX from a 3rd party aircraft or have the NGX as the default saved flight. Even PMDG recommends against that. The NGX is sensitive to the way its loaded. One of those things should solve it for you. B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
April 7, 201214 yr I had this problem too, turned out to be EZDOK camera. After I completely uninstalled it and deleted all the EZCA folder in AppData etc, I ran a test of FS2Crew in 2D view and was able to get past the engine start. I then reinstalled EZDOK and tested again in the VC and it worked fine. A good way to determine if the FO is ready for the Engine start procedure is to see if he's actually set the pressurization panel to the altitude you set in the FMC. I found that every time I had this error he had skipped that step, even though I had correctly configured my CDU for preflight. However if your not using EZDOK, I am not sure what could be causing the problem for you. Luke Cerff
April 7, 201214 yr In my experience getting FSX to load the 2D panel with EZDOK installed can be quite tricky, even with EZDOK disabled and default cockpit view set to 2D it doesn't always work - the display loads in 2D but in a second or so switches to 3D. I'm sure there are good reasons why you have to have the FSX load with the 2D panel in order for FSX2C to work but this is a bit of a gotcha for EZDOK users. It would be a great help if there was some way for FS2C to run without having to go through the 2D panel first. Bruce Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." Gandalf: "So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."
April 7, 201214 yr Yes I was experiencing that issue with EZDOK also. It forces the VC cockpit view as soon as load into the sim. However since doing the reinstall of EZDOK it has seemed to fix all the issues I was having with FS2Crew. Since then I have been able to start the sim in 3D mode and run through full flights with FS2crew no problem. I no longer need to load the sim in 2D mode first for it to work. Luke Cerff
April 7, 201214 yr Commercial Member On my machine, I can load direct to the VC from the Free Flight screen without loading the 2D first with no issues. I can even load direct from another 3rd party airplane. It just goes to show how computers do not all act the same way. However, in V1.2 (not yet released), I made a small change to improve this area. B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
April 7, 201214 yr Author Hi Brian Thanks for your suggestion. I already tried all your tips as I carried on reading forums to try and solve it after the OP, I was pretty much doing what you say before buying fs2crew anyway. CAPITALS BELOW ARE NOT SHOUTING BUT JUST TO SHOW WHERE I HAVE REPLIED TO YOUR COMMENTS Is FSX setup so it loads aircraft by "default" into the 2D cockpit? CONFIRMED Make sure you have this setting checked: CONFIRMED YES 2D Also, do not "Reset" the Flight. CONFIRMED, NEVER DO ANYWAY Also, ensure the "Trike" is visible in the Free Flight window before loading the NGX. CONFIRMED Never load the NGX from a 3rd party aircraft or have the NGX as the default saved flight. CONFIRMED Even PMDG recommends against that. The NGX is sensitive to the way its loaded. One of those things should solve it for you. NOT CONFIRMED, PROBLEM STILL EXISTS PS I DO NOT HAVE EZDOK Keithy George
April 7, 201214 yr I get this problem too, but it's completely random for me. Sometimes it works fine and sometimes it will tell me CDU and preflight not set. The FO will also not start the engines and I have to turn packs off myself and turn the engine start levers to ground and skip those parts of the checklist with the arrows on the FS2CREW panel. Also once I am at cruise altitude the FO does not perform his cruise flow, After that everything seems to work fine again from decent all the way to shutdown. It's so hard to pin the problem down when it's random because I don't know if I have found the problem or if it's just randomly working on this flight lol. Looking forward to version 1.2, you work so hard on this, all the work is much appreciated. Dean Farley
April 7, 201214 yr Author Just to add my post 2 above.... I Just tried a complete re install of SP1C and FS2Crew but still no luck. FO Does not set altitude on overhead and says engines not configured Keithy George
April 8, 201214 yr Commercial Member Keithy, Check your PMs. I want you to try V1.2 beta to see if it helps you. PM me with your email address. For the altitude on the pressurization panel, remember you need to have the FMC setup in full before the FO runs his main setup flow. FS2Crew pulls data from the FMC so the FO knows what altitude to set. B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord

OK thanks will check my PM You say "For the altitude on the pressurization panel, remember you need to have the FMC setup in full before the FO runs his main setup flow." I have been setting up the FMC straight away but at what point is the main set up flow exactly just to be sure? Is it when FO PRELIMINARY PROC is displayed around T + 18? Keithy George
April 8, 201214 yr For those that have EZDOK, make sure if installing SP1C for the NGX or reinstalling the NGX from sratch, that you run the EZDOK configuration manager before installing and running FS2Crew. That is most important to avoid FS2Crew flow issues.
