April 7, 201214 yr Hello! It's a quick question, probably already discussed somewhere here, but I couldn't find any clear help elsewhere. The WRI (Weather Radar Indicator) is present in the J41 cockpict, but seems to be "non-simulated". I have not really found that clearly, but the explanations about the functionalities of the weather control buttons in the "Dispaly Control Unit" are reported clearly as non-simulated. And I'm unable to start the WRI in the simulation, I suppose in fact that it is not simulated. If somebody know how to use the weather system of the PMDG J41, please tell, in the case that it works... Since, I found various informations about that on the web, some talk to install an external plugin (the WX500 of realityXP), and others talk about a functional update (for the WRI) in a future release. Does anyone have any information on this? I read here that PMDG don't plan a SP2 for the J41 in the future. Is someone know if the WX500 could be installed and work in the PMDG J41? I have already had the same kind of problems with the C337 from Carenado who advised (strongly) buying an external GPS (from reality XP) to replace the one they provides in their plane. The installation of the new jauge were OK and everything worked. But I also already had compatibility problems with external gauges installed on other aircraft. Is someone already tried the WX500 from Reality XP with the J41? Or another one who works? I know the weather radar is not necessary (of course, I'm flying without), but it's regretable to have one but can't use it. If there is no solutions, it's not a problem, I could fly without, as today! Thanks for help Have good flights! Pierre-Gilles
April 7, 201214 yr PMDG manuals are derived from the real FCOMs that flight crews use. They do cover things that may not be simulated just for completeness (and so you may learn something new). The weather radar in the J41 (and any other product developed by PMDG) is not simulated. I haven't read anything about a functioning weather radar for any product. And I don't think they are going to come out with a service pack for the J41 any time soon. About merging an external radar into the J41, I cannot help you there unfortunately. April 8, 201214 yr RealityXP WX500 works great. I forgot the thread that shows you how to use it with the J41, but I believe RealityXP website has the configuration too. Johnny Rosario
April 8, 201214 yr As far as I can remember, simply purchase and install the RealityXP WX500 and then launch the J4100...you should then have a working weather radar. Works great in mine. Wayne KlocknerUnited Virtual

April 8, 201214 yr If you have FS2 Crew, your co-pilot will switch it on as well at the appropriate time. Trevor Golding
April 8, 201214 yr Author Thanks for this, Trevor, I also was thinking to buy FS2Crew precisely. You seem to know a lot with this AddOn, could you help me about the two versions proposed for the J41 by FS2Crew? What are really the differences between the "Voice" and "Button" versions? The commercials informations on their site are not really clear, for my bad English. Can you confirm to me that the "Button" version is usable only by keybord? And the "Voice" works only with voice (with mic etc. ..)? Thank you if you can, to enlighten ourselves on both versions... I understood what FS2Crew does and how it could help pilots in take-off, approaches and other things, like if you have a real copilot in the cocpict. Thank you for help! Have a good flight! Pierre-Gilles
April 8, 201214 yr Pierre, For me, voice is the way to go. I have my own separate FSX room, so don't annoy others in the household. Button, I don't use as it detracts having to use a mouse (for me). I use a lot of modules and prefer telling my copilot (FSCrew) what to do... Button version uses the mouse to click on the commands for the copilot to say/do. FSCrew is also great for helping you start those demanding engines, can't start them till you copilot deems you have everything correct. Trevor Golding
April 8, 201214 yr Author Thanks Trevor for your advice! This is what I understood about their site. I was planning to purchase the "Voice" version, I read that if I have a Windows in French, I have to download things from the English version for this to work. I also saw that we can contact them in case of problems. I'll start with the version "Voice" by following your advice (maybe tomorrow). So thank you! Have a good flight! Pierre-Gilles

I think it only checks out in USD because they use Flight1) ckyliu, proud supporter of ViaIntercity.com. i5 12400F, 32GB, RTX4070, more in "About me" on my profile.
