C90 RXP integration

Recommended Posts

The RXP GNS 430 will fit in the panel in place of the Carenado GPS400 and work.

The right knob is a bit in the way of operations, but we may yet find a way around that..

Start with the following - and please post if you find a better solution!

//--------------------------------------------------------

[Vcockpit05]

....

//gauge05=GPS_400_C90!GNS400_NC_3D, 517, 512, 496,258

gauge05=rxpgns!GNS430, 510, 510, 500,262

//gauge06=C90KA!ToggleCAR430, 530, 520, 400,20

//--------------------------------------------------------

[Window01]

window_size=0.40, 0.27

window_pos= 0.60 ,0.73

visible=0

zorder=2

ident=10010

gauge00=rxpGNS!GNS430,0,0,100,100

And in the rxpgns.ini file, set popup=10010

Lastly: Instrument Reflections to OFF for the popup to work!

Just copy an rxpgns.ini file over from another airplane and put it in the C90 folder.

Here is the one I use:

[GNS430]

Popup=10010

AutoPilotMode=2

Radios=1

LinkCdiKey=On

AutoApproach=Off

LinkToVor=On

AutoCourse=On

LcdStyle=Off

AutoWidth=600

AutoHeight=252

Trainer=

NoKeyClick=Off

GndSpdFromDeltaLatLon=Off

Brightness=-1.0000

TCAD=On

LinkGPS=On

[GTX327]

VFRCode=1200

[sETTINGS]

Dimmer=Off

SimpleMouse=Off

Bert, you are THE MAN!

Since this is a pop-up only solution will this work with the 530 as well? I don't own the 430. Or is there an issue with it "fitting" in the panel, even though it is only being used when popped up?

Thanks!

Eddie

Hello Bert -- another question for ya !!!! How do the different databases in the Avidyne (FS map nav data) resolve with the RXP GNS 430 (Jeppesen map nav data) ??

In my system, I have built many airports, etc based on the FS map data base. If I were to install the RXP 430, I am wondering what will happen. I know the two databases are not directly compatible.

What say Bert ???

Many Thanks --- Bob --- :Big Grin:

Hi Bert,

I tried to install RXP430 the way you described - it didn't work. 2 issues:

1) Although I could see RXP430 panel instead of default GPS I couldn't switch the GPS on. The on switch didn't work no matter what I did

2) I could not swap active and standby frequencies on either of the NAV radios or ADF

Any advice will be appreciated.

Regards,

Mike

Best regards,

Mike

Mike, you are seeing the downsides of the current VC integration. Carenado may have to alter the 3D model to allow for full working buttons and switches. Switch the unit on when the 2D popup is visible, that's the only (mouse) solution so far.

The radios work fine here. Maybe Bert has an idea what could be wrong.

Re 1) There is a small clickspot that works for power up. Just to the left of the power knob,

but as mentioned above, a better way is to pop it up for start up.

Re 2) The NAV radios works OK for me, but the clickspot for the ADF swap is tiny and hard to find.

Right at the end of the little toggle switch, a hand becomes visible. The could be improved upon

by Carenado.

This will be just like any other airplane where you mix FS nav data with Garmin nav data..

Most of the time, it will be fine, some times things have changed between 2006 and 2011..

What is not working? Those are the changes I made.. do you see the 430 in the panel?

Use the popup window shift-2 to power it up.

In that case, leave the 400 in the panel and pop up the 530 - that will work.

Hello Bert and thanks for the reply -----

I was referring to the SCALING differences between the two mapping systems. They are not the same. For instance I have seen a 30 miles error in some long distance travel....where my plane is spawned at an island airport, yet on the RXP unit, it is 30 miles out in the water while the plane is on the runway. The errors can be big. If this is something you are not familiar with, no problem. Just thought you might be. It would be interesting to see what you get if you use the Avidyne to place a plane at a place and then see where it shows its exact location on the RXP 430......I assume the Avidyne is using the FS map database because all works fine in the stock C90 where both units are predicated on the FS map base.

Thanks for any observations --- Bob --- :Just Kidding:

Just zoom out one click then zoom in again and it will move to the correct location, it's a bug that only appears sometimes when the RXP gauge first starts up, I think.

Cheers, Andy.

Why not keep it as close to the original airplane as possible?
