April 18, 201214 yr Where would i find the rxpgns.ini file? I think there's several copies used recursively by the RXP software (?). But, the one used for the C90 should be here ..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\Carenado C90 King Air Trevor Bair CMEL+IR | PA32R-301T & C208BMy Real World Travels
April 18, 201214 yr First of all, you do not need it... However, you can find it in the Programs list START/Programs/RealityXP/GNSWAAS etc Howdy Bert ---- question about GNS430 flight plans, etc. I have looked around and not found any tools that are designed to "ease" the slow manual programming of the GNS units. Are you aware of any? I don't know if the user's RXP flight plan, VOR, intersection, etc data is stored in files that can be directly edited similar to Navigraph type data ??? How do you handle programming ? Manually inputting a large amount of user waypoints, and FPs is a dog of a job..... :Big Grin: I think I know the answer already, but thought I would ask you, Bert. Thanks --- Bob Bob Magill

Thanks --- Bob You can store flightplans in the unit itself, so if you re-use a plan - you do not have to re-enter.. But other than that, just like the real world... enter whatever you need to get off the ground while at the departure airport, and select waypoints enroute, and add an approach when you know which way you want to land.. I don't see it in my Folder. IS that the only place? It is typically in the airplane folder, but you can add it to the panel folder, in which case the copy in the airplane folder will be ignored. April 18, 201214 yr Since we are having a Q&A and Bert is knowledgeable. I've held off on buying any Reality XP unit for awhile. Can you enter entire flight plans in directly to the XP units? If so that is worth it alone for me as when I'm flying I'm partial VFR and partial IFR but unfortunately (unless there is something with the default generic units) I can only enter in a single destination at a time and not program out a entire flight plan while in the air or on the ground. April 18, 201214 yr Can you enter entire flight plans in directly to the XP units? I'm not Bert (or even close) but this I can answer. Yes. The Reality XP units are as close to real as it gets - true simulations using the engine of Garmin's own trainer. You can enter and modify flight plans quite literally on the fly, just as you would the actual units. Scott
April 18, 201214 yr And the navdata is updatable? Enviado desde mi Galaxy Nexus usando Tapatalk 2 José Fco. April 18, 201214 yr And the navdata is updatable? No. Well... sorta. Some of Garmin's newer software trainers have featured updated data that has been compatible with the original 430/530. That's indirectly benefited RealityXP customers, as with a small bit of (well documented) knowledge you can update the original data. The latest I'm aware of and that I'm currently using is from June 2011, which does get you a pretty good selection of LPV approaches. Scott
April 18, 201214 yr Navdata is not easily updatable, like Navigraph or anything. They do have instructions on how to install a newer Garmin simulator then copying its navdata to the GNS. You can read more (and MORE!) on their forums - http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum12.html Could help the pre-purchase decision. I have not regretted for one second dropping $50 on it! EddieKABQ
April 18, 201214 yr I'm assuming the 430 is the most versatile unit to buy? ie: Will get the most actual use? If I'm blowing $50 on a GPS unit I want it to be able to slide into as many if not every plane I own. I'm assuming the 530 is less likely since it's a lot bigger and not all planes have a empty area that size. April 18, 201214 yr Could help the pre-purchase decision. I have not regretted for one second dropping $50 on it! Ditto times 2, as I have both the 430 and 530. The only thing I've never quite been able to justify to myself is the $100 pricing of the unlimited pack. Scott
April 18, 201214 yr Hey Bill, I got the 530 because I like the bigger screen. But you are right. There are many more 430 sized "holes" in aircraft. So it would probably be more versatile. The Duke will take either. Or both. Tonight I will try to resize the 530 to fit in the 400 spot in the King. Will let you know if it works. EddieKABQ

I started out with just the 430, but it wasn't long before I added the 530, I've now got as many 530 planes as I do 430, and several with both. Once you use the 530 with its large screen, it's hard to think of the 430 as anything other than it's poorer cousin, even though the actual feature sets (outside of display features) are the same. April 26, 201214 yr You do want Autocourse=On and LinkVOR=Off for this airplane. Hey Bert, If you have a moment... Can you explain your reasoning behind this. The Link to VOR being off? And it is only for the C90? I fly the Carenado Baron as well. I have the 430,530 and Unlimited package from RXP. 530 (thanks again, Eddie!)/430 in the C90, and 2 430's in the Baron. Crosslink and TCAD are working fine. I just want to make sure I have the other options set up correctly. Or does it just come down to personal preference? Thanks Rob Simmons
April 26, 201214 yr Author This gets complicated... FSX has separate variables for HSI and VOR deflection. LinkVOR=1 means that VOR1 will show the GPS course. LinkVOR=0 means it will not. If you have an RMI, it may react to the VOR1 GPS signal. So, to keep the RMI showing the VOR1 course, even with the GPS steering the autopilot and the HSI showing the GPS course, LinkVOR=0 is the better setting for the C90. It depends on the plane.. Bert
