ASE starts slowly even on fast machines - it's a feature. Your processor is fast enough and you have enough memory for the program. Ugrading your graphics card to 512 Mb would probably help your map updating - I assume there are still 512Mb AGP cards out there somewhere. DJ
April 17, 201214 yr Hello I run AS2012 via simconnect on an old IBM T42 thinkpad P4 @ 1.8 ghz alongside FSCommander via WideFS and usually a browser and a PDF reader open and it copes just fine. I use Dexpot multiple desktop software to give these a desktop each. Your Athlon will be fine.
April 18, 201214 yr yep, ASE takes about 5-7 minutes to start on my i5 and then can be another 5-7 minutes before the initial write is done and I can refresh AI. It is the ONLY program I have that requires 10-15 minutes of wait time to use... Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
April 18, 201214 yr I just tested ASE and FSX. I have ASE on a workstation PC. I loaded FSX and the Duke at KDTW and turned on ATIS. Then started ASE (FSUIPC WIDE) on the workstation. It took 2 minutes to get new ATIS and Wx. Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
April 18, 201214 yr Hello 2:25s here to run AS2012 and get the weather into FSX (DWC) on a networked P4 laptop @ 1.8ghz Although it feels slower when you sit there watching it load, the time actually surprised me when I timed it. I thought it was much slower than that.

I am using ASE and FS9 though :Whistle: Also forgot to mention that WHERE I load up makes a HUGE difference, at LLBG, it is 2 mins just like you, at KEWR it is significantly longer and I do not refresh until my flightplan has loaded, maybe that is the problem... April 18, 201214 yr Hello paul I am using DWC, so AS2012 is setting global weather and I have it set up to not create any extra virtual stations, If you are using Standard depiction and creating additional virtual stations then maybe it takes a while to set all of the stations around KEWR. Just guessing here though.
April 18, 201214 yr so in my example above would you refresh at 7:01 or 7:05? 7:01 is when the initial depiction completes, 7:05 is after my flightplan loads... Also, are you using a f/p or is that just initial depiction? I always wait for a FP to load... Thanks again! -Paul In any way, my comments above were grossly exaggerated... Even at KEWR with a FP it took 7 minutes... If the download fails a few times that can go up but the baseline is probably 2-3 minutes for initial depiction and 5-7 minutes with a flightplan. April 18, 201214 yr Hello paul Just tried again, this time allowing AS2012 to load as normal then loading a flightplan into As2012 Once the plan had loaded into AS2012 I then refreshed the weather and this probably took as long as the initial time to load the App. Longest pause was whilst the UI was saying .. Parsing line items.. So I would say total time not taking into account me fumbling around in the interface to load my plan.. around four mins.
