Wondering About the SDK with the 777

Featured Replies

Since, I'm assuming, a lot of problems with releasing the SDK should have been ironed out with the NGX release, I was wondering if the SDK will be released this time, along with the release of the base pack.

The reason I'm asking is that I need to know if we need to start cranking up the pressure on Bryan York for the FS2Crew 777 Voice & Button release soon after. :clapping:

Can't see it taking as long as the NGX did.

They should have ironed out all their legal issues by now. They're using the same framework, so I would imagine the same limitations to 3rd parties would apply and that's all be sorted since the NGX SDK released.

Man, I just finished the 737 NGX version of FS2Crew... and my head is still spinning from that monster of a project :Peace:

You guys can start cranking up the pressure in about 6 months.

Good news though is I've already sourced my "real-world" 777 consultant.

But in the meantime, keep using your NGX.

Cheers,

Ha, ha..Bryan, I thought that might flush you out. :LMAO: I'm very happy using the NGX. No worries!

How do you like my little smiley? He is yelling "COME ON BRYAN, 777 TIME...LET'S SNAP TO IT!!!...HOP, HOP :clapping:

Mind me asking, what even is an SDK? Rob said it should be on initial release.

Just do a Voice Version, isn't that the plan anyway; to eventually get ride of Button Control?

In plain English and in the context of flightsim, an SDK basically allows other programs to "communicate" with the host aircraft.

For example, the SDK for the PMDG 737 NGX allows other 3rd party programs to control (and read) switch positions on the NGX.

Possibly.

The big news that just recently came out is that "all" versions of Windows 8 will support multi-languages.

What this means is that everyone will be able to switch their Speech Recognizer language setting to English - US with no problems whatsoever (without having to upgrade to Ultimate or Enterprise or use Vistalizator).

This means that Voice Control will be easily available to everyone, especially those outside the anglosphere -the US, UK, Canada, NZ, AU, SA, IE, etc.

The only stumbling block is getting everyone to switch to Windows 8... that might be the hard part.

I know :Nerd:

There are still several XP hold outs still if you can believe that.

XP is like 10 years old now... :Nerd: :Nerd:

But that weird Metro thing is going to make it tough for people to want to upgrade to Win 8, but the multi-language support is a definite plus for users with non-English versions of Windows.

But it is the best FS2Crew by far(not to diminish your other efforts) But what a joy I have starting a flight and going through the procedures ceated by you... A must have!

I see no reason the SDK shouldn't be there with the RTM release this time - that's part of the codebase now.
