May 2, 201214 yr So we're all agreed (I am anyway) that FS2Crew for the NGX is probably the best add-on you could have for FSX. Now as realism is what we are all after all the time, let's consider what happens in the real world. When an aircraft has departed and reached cruise, the workload reduces for a time. But do the two pilots sit there in total silence, ignoring each other? Probably not, more than likely they indulge in a bit of social chit-chat such as "what did you do this weekend?" "how's your wife, is she out of hospital yet?" "did you see that programme the other night?" etc, etc. So here's the challenge for you Bryan. Come up with an add-on giving all sorts of conversational gambits and responses to make FS2C truly realistic. LOL! Don't worry, I'm only kidding!! Just to think of all the script writing, programming and recording involved is enough to send any developer mad! :LMAO: Iain Smith

May 2, 201214 yr How 'bout this then, and it might not be that hard to do. To break up those long boring flights, an option could be included to randomly have the flight attendents call the cockpit with some sort of emergency in the cabin. Say for instance an illness like someone having chestpains. This sort of thing could be challenging in the fact that decisions would have to be made to divert to the closest airport where medical help could be provided. They could even give updates as to the patients status. That way every flight "might " be an unexpected challenge and force you to always be looking for alternate landing spots as the flight progresses..............sorry Bryan Steve Corzine
May 3, 201214 yr Commercial Member That's easy to do with button control; in fact, I did it in a few of the older FS2Crew's. Voice control is problematic because it would require a complex script and you would have to memorize the lines and all the possible responses. Remember that speech recognition works on the user using pre-scripted phrases. There's no AI like you see in the movies where you can have a free flowing conversation with the computer. Voice control is easy for short commands and checklists or yes/no answers, but anything complex and involved would be tedious for the end-user. B. May 3, 201214 yr Yes, I see what you mean, though I really didn't envision any complex interaction. Something like: FA to Cockpit: " Captain we have a passenger who is "fill in the blank" PF to FA: "will get back to you" (this is where you, the Captain, decide what to do) for instance if diverting to nearest field you call the FA PF to FA: "will land as soon as possible" FA to Cockpit: "Understood" You could then use one of the canned responses or make a PA announcement to the passengers about diverting, etc. etc...... Anyway, something to think about for the future......... Steve Corzine
May 3, 201214 yr Commercial Member Problem is to do that realistically I'd have to model a conversation with ops and probably a conversation with the doctor describing symptoms. But I'll consider it! Cheers, B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
May 3, 201214 yr Bryan did try this with earlier versions [original PMDG 737, Level D 767?]. As always, they were great products generally but I have to say I wasn't entirely convinced by the ad hoc conversations - as Bryan says, with the best will in the world, such conversations are bound to be a bit formulaic once you've heard them a few times. Do you genuinely want the possibility of having to divert for a medical or air-rage emergency? Do you have the charts etc to hand to divert unexpectedly to another, unplanned airport? I know I don't although I expect some that are more expert than me do. I think Bryan is considering offering a further add-on for those wanting to buy FS2Crew dialogues to go with some of the PMDG system failures. That should give you something additional to think about. I presume next in line will be the Triple 7. I seem to remember the LDS 767 had ETOPS procedures requiring regular navigation cross checks and that could help fill up those long long haul flights, in part at least.
May 3, 201214 yr Author Do you have the charts etc to hand to divert unexpectedly to another, unplanned airport? I know I don't although I expect some that are more expert than me do. No but I have never had a problem making such a diversion and landing safely. Radar Contact has the option for various emergencies and occasionally, if I'm running out of time to finish the planned flight I'll invoke one of the emergencies. I may have broken some aviation rules regarding altitudes and approach paths but, hey! This is Flight Simulator and it was an emergency! Iain Smith
May 3, 201214 yr <SNIP> But I'll consider it! Cheers, :Praying: Thanks Bryan, that's really appreciated. Steve Corzine
May 3, 201214 yr Just set up a Teamspeak FS2Crew Cruise channel. When any of us reach cruise we log into the channel, and start chatting with others on TS. Problem solved for non flight related chat. Mark CYYZ
