I am just curious if there is anyone else like me who kept the beta version? Since I received all of the DLC before release, I just kept it as it was.

Of course, none of my Live account stuff is being stored and I can't play any muliplayer stuff (didn't care to anyway), but I am still enjoying the full package as is.

My history for challenges and missions is being stored on my PC, and they all function. So, that's a plus.

But, I know I can never upgrade it or anything, or add more DLC, but decided to keep playing for now.

Interesting idea, but you will have trouble in the future, for example when Alaska comes out if you want to get it.

Did you not get an email with codes for your DLC? Most, if not all, from what I remember, testers who got access to DLC also got to keep it for the full release, or at least got something.

I dropped it when they told us to. Then it took a while for me to feel like doing anything other than flying around randomly, because who wants to start over again and do the same old stuff you just spent months doing?

 

I always think former beta testers are even more prone to Flight burnout than anyone else, and need Alaska to keep them going even more than most.

 

Though anyone who resist the enthusiast temptation to live in the game for weeks at a time is probably safer from burnout.

Actually, from what I can tell, my progress is still being recorded on my PC, just not online. So I am still progressing through all of the challenges/missions just never connected to the LIVE network. I don't have to repeat anything that I am already completed. There is still a lot left of the pre-release version that I have not yet done.

I understand your question, but with DLC that is largely unknown, it's always the "beta' version, isn't it? :Nail Biting:

We were told to delete the beta and start again. I may have also overdone it by running a registry cleaner afterwards, but that is my past best practice from previous sims. (and driver installs)

It was my understanding to download and start playing the "release" version, we had to first remove the "beta" version. But nothing said I "had" to remove it. :-) So, I chose not to so I wouldn't lose all of my content; which was at the time, everything that was available. So, I'll just play it until I've completed everything, and then delete it and start anew with the release version.

I rarely use the original Icons to flight sims. Unlike most games, they tend to be rather bland. If its popular, then some kind soul will usually create a better one.

You can save all of your earned points, aerocaches, etc. and keep if for a fresh install of the release version...

 

What you're missing out on are the 785 or so "fixes" that were made since the last beta version we tested, not to mention some things that've been fixed since release... :LMAO:
